The Barbara Solow Research Fellowship provides financial assistance to Williams College student(s) conducting research in Economic or Business History, or in other areas reflecting the diverse interests of the pioneering economic historian Barbara L. Solow, including Irish history, Caribbean slavery, and other historical topics in the social sciences.  Application deadline:  Friday, April 8, 2016

Research Assistant
Peterson Institute for International Economics

Interested in working this summer as an RA at the Peterson Institute for International Finance in Washington, DC? The Peterson Institute is one of the most respected 'think tanks' in the world, especially in the area of international finance.  This work would be under the supervision of Ted Truman, who is teaching a tutorial at the Center for Development Economics and is a former assistant sec. of Treasury and former Director (one of the two most senior staff) at the Federal Reserve Board for about 20 years. The core part of the assignment consists of updating a database on the transparency and accountability of Sovereign Wealth Funds, and would take 4-6 weeks; there is the potential of extending the position for a few more weeks, depending on your availability.
