Changing the View with Wall Wraps

Wallscapes, or wall wraps, are quickly emerging as the latest trend in the world of wide-format print.  Wall wraps are not new and have been used quite effectively in the past by retailers.  Brick and mortar stores always try to create immersive environments for their shoppers to not only get them through shop doors but keep them engaged so they stay in the store longer (and hopefully make a purchase).

At Jessup, we’re seeing more wall wrap applications by companies who want to transform the average into extraordinary.  We’re not the only company to take note of this trend.  In an article published on, Zachariah Lujano of Wrap Nation™ was interviewed.  He told the publication, “Wall wraps are very cool at creating an impactful ad or stylizing a room with many creative design possibilities.”  This is why more companies are organically incorporating wallscapes into their open spaces, hallways, and conference rooms.

There are two other sectors that are also relying on the use of wall wraps to reach and dazzle people.  It’s not uncommon to step into a local coffee shop, bakery, or restaurant and see a full wall decked out in colorful graphics, infographics, or showcasing a menu.  Event planners are also using wallscapes to engage attendees who might stop, pose, and take pictures in front of a branded wall and then share on their social media.

Experts Weigh In on 2018 Print Industry Trends

As 2017 winds to a close, experts are weighing in on 2018 trends within our industry.  The consensus is the world of digital print, signage, and advertising are expected to expand and evolve next year.  Here are a few highlights we’ve gathered from the experts:

•    Recently, the International Sign Association (ISA) released the ISA Sign Industry Quarterly Economic Report.  ISA says the sign, graphic, and visual communication industry is trending upward.  In fact, 2017 tracking shows the industry is at its strongest since 2011.  This upward swing will mostly benefit suppliers in the printing industry and those within the electric and digital sign sectors (

•    Speaking of digital print, a recent analysis shows this market is expected to reach $187.7 billion in revenue in 2018, marking a compound annual growth rate of 7.4%.  Keep in mind, 10 years ago digital printing accounting for just under 18.5% of the market in value terms.  In 2018, this figure is expected to increase, and digital printing will be worth 50% of the market in value terms.  Experts say the digital print market is well positioned to accommodate the changing demands of buyers as well as end consumers of print (

•    Aside from making great strides in revenue, the digital printing industry has also improved a great deal in terms of quality, speed, and direct print options.  According to Mike Syverson, director of special projects for PrinterEvolution at Global Imaging Inc., “Five years ago, there was a very distinct difference in output quality between directly printed textile and transfer printed textile.”  Syverson continued, “There were color and quality differences. Those have largely gone away.”  We expect ink technology and printheads will continue to improve into 2018, giving printers and buyers of print media more versatility than ever before (

The 2017 SGIA Experience

In October,  Jessup exhibited at the SGIA Expo (Specialty Graphics Imaging Association) in New Orleans, Louisiana. This year, the organization has reported that over 19,000 people in the print and graphics community attended the event. The key to success at large tradeshows like this is having an attention-worthy presence.  With the use of print media for walls and floors, you can easily create that big presence and excitement even when space is limited.

This year Jessup wanted an experiential exhibit that would grab the attention of the attendees. What experience is more universal than that of holding a smartphone? Using TexWalk® as the print media for the graphics, we printed a larger than life smartphone with the Jessup social media home page on the screen and many of our friends listed including HP®,  Quality Media, AGFA Graphics, EFI, Canon, Gans, and Zund. It was great to see familiar faces and make new friends as well.

The pictures above are from the grand entrance at SGIA leading to the main entrance of the event.  TexWalk® was used on marble floors to create the indoor donation floor graphics and Asphalt Art®  was used on brick pavers for the outside graphics. No heat is required to apply the graphics - simply peel and stick.
