Custom Printed Interior Decor Now Trending

One of the great opportunities for wide format printers these days is tapping into the growing demand for custom canvas prints. Made from photos that are digitally printed on wide format media and wrapped onto wooden frames, this type of artwork allows people to capture moments and express their creativity like never before.  In the past, we saw people turn to online sites to create photo albums or have their photos printed so they could put them in frames.  Now, people are ordering canvas prints that showcase not only photos, but art they find meaningful as well.

While you may have heard about this trend as it relates to individual consumers buying one-off pieces, it’s important to note that canvas prints are a staple for interior designers, dining establishments, and retailers.  In fact, if you visit any IKEA or Pier One, you’ll see a multitude of canvas prints available which were mass produced, distributed, and then made available for sale.

We believe canvas printing will remain a staple because it’s versatile enough to appeal to all types of businesses and consumers and it supports individual expression. SportWalk is an excellent media for canvas prints because it has a rich texture that looks like oil paint. It produces deeply saturated colored prints that look as great up close as they look from afar.

Another Sure Footed Finish

Each year, Bank of America hosts a marathon in Chicago, Illinois with a course that crosses through 29 area neighborhoods.  This year, the marathon took place on October 9th and it had roughly 40,000 participants who were brave enough to take on 26.2 miles.  Even greater is the number of spectators, an estimated 1.7 million people, who came to cheer on the runners.

This year, and years prior, Asphalt Art® made a special appearance.  Our print media was used to create the finish line that tens of thousands of people crossed on foot and by wheels.  One of the many reasons Asphalt Art® has been a go-to for not just the Chicago Bank of America Marathon, but sporting events around the world, is its’ non-slip property.  Safety is a major concern for sporting event planners and Asphalt Art® is backed by NFSI certification.  Our print media is also durable, conformable, pedestrian friendly, and extremely easy to apply and remove.

The great thing about wide format print media is that it can be used for many purposes at major sporting events, ranging from wayfinding ground decals for event attendees, to bold wall signage for advertisers.

According to a recent market research report, the large format print market is supposed to be worth $8.42B by 2022.  This value includes hardware and after-sales services.  Experts say that the growing demand for textile print applications, advertising, and décor will drive the growth.

Canvas Wrap Tips

When preparing the art file you're going to use for a canvas print, calculate how much of the image is going to wrap. The standard depth is 2.5 inches. That means that you must add 5 inches to each dimension of your image to cover the frame. Using your digital preview too, check to see how much of the image will be visible on the face of the canvas. Position it so that the artist's signature and date are included in the right position.
