April 2018

This Month's Featured Athlete

Mya Jones
16, Soccer, Attacking Midfielder/Forward

Mya Jones has competed for Canada U17, and is a member of the REX program (Alberta Regional EXCEL Centre) and the Calgary Foothills Soccer Club. Yet, one of the most memorable moments in her career to date; however, was winning the Club National title in 2015. Her team being an underdog going into the tournament had to fight very hard to achieve the gold, an experience she considers very inspiring.

Unfortunately several knee injuries in the last couple of years, prior to joining the Athlete Factory, meant Mya had to miss several important competitions. As disappointing as this was, Mya was able to move forward. "I was able to use these set backs to drive me to work extremely hard. As a result I have progressed positively as a player and as a person,” she says.

Mya credits the Athlete Factory for helping her overcome her injuries.

"The Athlete factory is a step ahead of any other form of physical training that I have ever done. They are training athletes with techniques that are extremely effective and have helped me personally overcome a long lasting injury. Before I came to them, I was struggling at figuring out how to get back into play. Even with extra training and help I continued to get re-injured. But within a few months of training at Athlete Factory I was stronger than ever before and back to the run of play," says Mya.

Mya considers hard work and the detail of that work to be the keys to success. "With hard work, you need to be constantly putting in maximal effort every single opportunity that you get. In regards to details, you must be doing every activity with precision and intent. With these two factors the sky is the limit,” says Mya.

Now that Mya is back competing, her aspiration in the next year is to make it into the youth national team again, which she knows will be dictated by her play on the field and her physical conditioning off the field. She also has her sights set on representing Canada in a World Cup, and with her drive and commitment we are confident that she will achieve her goals.

The Athlete Factory is proud to be the conditioning company of choice for the REX program (Alberta Regional EXCEL Centre). For more information on our soccer sports conditioning programs please contact us at
