Name: Noah McDonough
Age: 15
Sport: Football
Position: Linebacker/Strong Safety

When did you start competing in your sport? What inspired you to start?
I started playing organized contact football when I was six years old for the Calgary Atom Wildcats. At the time, my dad was head coach of the atom team, and my brother was known as quite the player, so I decided to give the sport a chance.
What are some recent achievements in your sporting career?
Last season, I was awarded the Walt Keiser Most Valuable Linebacker Award for Calgary Bantam football, and I also was selected captain for the Calgary Selects All-Star Team. Recently, I was apart of the Zone 3 Summer Games squad that won gold in the Games, and I was chosen for the Team Alberta Under 16 Team that will play in the Dallas Cowboys stadium against Team USA this January [interview conducted prior to event, Noah was selected to captain the team and they had a big win against the US].  Currently, I play for my high school team, The Saint Francis Browns.
What are your short and long-term goals?
My current short term goal is to win the City Championship with my high school team [interview conducted prior to championships, Noah and his team won]. Eventually, the big picture is to play for a Division One NCAA team, and be drafted into the NFL.
When did you begin training at the Athlete Factory and how has it helped you in your sport?
I started training at the Athlete Factory in 2013 and it has given me nothing short of results in my sport. It took some time to alter my quad dominant running and weight lifting form, but the process was efficient and eventually I began seeing improvements in my speed and power, which is very necessary in the game of football. The Athlete Factory staff have taken me from a 215lbs back squat and a 40kg power clean to 310lbs+ squat and a 90kg+ power clean, but the most important part is that I finally am starting to use functional form.
Who is your role model and why do you look up to them?
My parents are easily my two role models in my life. Whether it's driving me to my sessions at AF, supporting me at my games, or even driving me to and from school every day, I don't know two more phenomenal individuals than my parents.

The one day workshop focused on various elements of sports conditioning, including warm up techniques they could incorporate into their practices and games, as well as a presentation on concussion prevention and post-concussion care.

This past fall our Athletic Therapists Nicole Ainsworth & Charlotte Van Audenrode
conducted baseline concussion testing for almost 100 of the Mustangs Lacrosse athletes!

Visit our Sports Therapy clinic for all your needs (chiropractic, massage therapy, athletic therapy, FSM, physiotherapy).

Thank you to all those who assisted with and participated in our open house on January 30th. We had a full gym and were supported by many of our existing clients and had the opportunity to meet many new people and discuss how we can help them on their journey - whether athletic, health & wellness or rehabilitation. Big thanks to our main organizer S&C Coach Jessica Leemans and all our speakers: Dr Robinson & his team, S&C Coaches Doug Brown & Robin Bauer, Olympic Medalist Jan Hudec, and Founder Paul Balsom.

Thank you to our friends at Bundles of Energy for sharing this great recipe full of immune boosting nutrients.
