With our Guatemalan sister organization, Asociación Compañero Para Cirugía and other amazing partner organizations, we were able to change the lives of over 6,000 people in remote areas of Guatemala in 2016.
Thanks to our donors, we are less than $5,200 away from reaching the current goal of our project, Medical Care for 2,000 Rural Guatemalan Families, on GlobalGiving. With the resources you have provided us with, our team of volunteers were able to use their skills to really make a difference in so many people's lives in some otherwise forgotten areas of the country.
We have recently published a report on this project, with the story of Kennet (pictured above), and other efforts from our team.
Our work, however, is far from finished. As we say goodbye to 2016, we greet 2017 knowing that we have another year to share with you, another year to raise funds to change more lives, another year receiving help from incredibly skilled volunteers, another year of friends spreading the word about the work that we do. It is a lot of work, but when we see the smiles on so many faces, we know that it's all worth the effort.
We are bringing back stories to our website
Meet some of the people that Partner for Surgery has helped through our stories. We have recently started publishing the stories on our website, along with our social media channels, to bring you closer to the people you have helped. Between old and new patient stories, there are no two patients alike.
We have a full list of stories scheduled, so remember to visit our website whenever you feel like reading about amazing people coming together for a common goal.
Delia had already received a surgical procedure at the age of 2 but her doctors never followed up. 14 years later, she heard about Partner for Surgery.
We are making a renewed effort to encourage non-medical volunteers to join us on a medical mission in Guatemala and also visit some of the patients in their rural homes. If you know of anyone who might have an interest in learning more, please contact Frank Peterson at 703 893-4335.
