From Mr. Phillips, Head of School & Athletic Director
The Ministry of Teaching…
I attended an A.C.S.I. Regional meeting earlier this month, and in the meeting, we discussed all of the different protocols schools are implementing to maintain a safe environment. As we continue to navigate these waters, I want to say "Thank You" to those who have reached out with encouraging words and offered prayers for our Faculty, Staff, and Administration Team. We are all in this together and need to support each other in prayer during this time. We also discussed that we need to remain focused on why we do what we do.
Colossians 3:2 reminds us to "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." (N.I.V.) "F.O.C.U.S. seems to be the theme for many schools this year. Colossians 3:2 is another verse to remind us to F.O.C.U.S. Fix our eyes on Jesus so that we can Observe who is in front of us, give Compassionate encouragement, Unite with the Body of Christ, and Serve Selflessly.
Thank you again for partnering with us this school year.

We are so thankful for the years that Avia Stocker has invested in Curtis, both in the elementary office and most recently in the CBS Daycare & Preschool. Avia will be moving to Raleigh, NC, in the next few weeks; please pray for Avia and her family in their move and transitions.
Kellie Nieves has served as the Daycare Office Manager and will be moving into the Daycare Director position effective 10/1/2020. Pray for her during the transition to a new position. Kellie has been an active educator for the last six years having taught Third Grade in Honduras, Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in Atlanta and for three years with elementary students in Augusta. She has served as the Office Manager in the Daycare/Preschool since 2018. She is delighted to be serving with an excellent staff and devoted followers of Christ to empower the next generation of children in God’s Kingdom. Kellie is married to her husband of almost five years, Jarrett Nieves, and they have a daughter Lucy who is currently in one of the 2 year old classes within the daycare.
Reminder: We will be closed on Monday, September 7, for Labor Day.

Elementary School News
September is here and our students are doing an amazing job of settling into the new school year. They have really been enjoying their classes and I am excited to see them learning and growing in Christ. On Friday, September 4, they will have their first D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) day. Encourage your students to bring their favorite book to read.
I am truly blessed to be a part of the CBS Family.

Middle and High School News
As you know, Covid-19 has given us the opportunity to design a unique school environment. Our students, parents, faculty and staff have had to adapt to new public health safety guidelines. Temporary activity restrictions and limited social engagement is the new norm. The good news is that with your help, we are a month into a very successful school year. Thank you for your prayers, support, and encouragement during the opening weeks of school.
As we move forward, we ask that you use all of the resources available to be informed and up-to-date about what is happening at Curtis. Remember, RenWeb, Parent Alerts, Sports Week-at-a-Glance, emails, and phone calls are in place to ensure that you have access to the people and information you need as a valued member of our Curtis family.
- Mr. Larry Ford, Middle and High School Principal
We made it through the first month of school!! I am so proud of each of the students and how they have adapted to the changes needed for this school year. I am looking forward to the next few months and all that this year will offer! The SAT (12th grade) and PSAT (8th, 10th, and 11th) will be given again this year in October. I will be sending letters home soon with more information. I am looking forward to September, and I am here if students or parents need anything. If you need to reach me, my email is email@example.com.
