From Mr. Phillips, Head of School & Athletic Director
Welcome to the 2020/21 school year!
We are so excited to have our students and teachers coming back into the school building for a new school year. Our focus is on the health and safety of our faculty, staff, students, and their families. If you have not reviewed our updated policies and procedures regarding COVID-19, please take the time to read through that document.
We have several new teachers at Curtis this year as well. We feel that Curtis has a group of excellent educators, and we are excited to see what God is doing within our school.
We look forward to having a fantastic year at Curtis. Please be in prayer for the school as we are doing everything we can to prevent the spread of the virus within our school community, while we provide a great education with a biblical worldview.
As a reminder, our theme this year is F.O.C.U.S 2020. In the coming newsletters we will share a little more about what each letter means.

Daycare & Preschool News
We have been overjoyed to see our familiar faces again! CBS Daycare/Preschool has been adjusting to new procedures. Our staff has been hard at work loving and catching up with their students and families. Teachers have been reviewing past curriculum standards with students who have been attending this summer. Many classes have been participating in summer fun activities in the classrooms. Students are focusing on language skills, phonetics, numbers, science, and Bible stories, through lessons, crafts and kinetic play. Over the last few months, we have been delighted to enroll many new faces for the fall and cannot wait to meet you all soon and welcome you in! We pray as CBS Daycare/Preschool we can be a part of that extended family of support. One thing we are certain of is that God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him!
Sadly, at the end of July, we lost a dear CBS family member, Donna Hill. She was one of our teacher assistants in our three-year-old class and worked in the daycare/preschool for 8 years. We are collecting letters/student drawings/cards/emails from parents/colleagues to give to Ms. Donna Hill's family, to comfort them during this time. We will have a box in the daycare office where you may place them. Emails can be sent to our director Avia Stocker, at firstname.lastname@example.org and will be printed out to send. Since her family is from Fort Valley, GA, we would like to have them by Friday, August 14, to be able to send out as soon as possible. Please be in prayer for her family and loved ones. We are forever thankful for her outpouring of love to all of our Curtis families and children.
Reminder: We will be closed on Monday, September 7, for Labor Day.

Elementary School News
Welcome back!! The beginning of the school year has finally arrived and I am so excited to see each and everyone of our students. I want to congratulate our K5 on their graduation and moving on to First Grade. I am looking forward to an exciting year and can't wait to see what God has in store for our school. I am truly blessed to be a part of the CBS Family.

Middle and High School News
This year will offer us the opportunity to model faith in action. Understanding the seriousness of our current health crisis, we take precautions and we implement policy and procedures, yet we do not live in fear.
As our Middle and High School students enter the building they will experience the results of godly wisdom in preparation for a safe and productive learning environment. They will also sense a calming assurance from a faculty and staff whose faith is in God’s sovereign control over His world.
Even though this year will no doubt look different, our students will have access to the people and tools they need to advance spiritually and academically.
We look forward to partnering with you as we continue to Cultivate Bold Christian Servants.
- Mr. Larry Ford, Middle and High School Principal
Welcome back!! I am excited to see everyone, new and returning, for a new school year!! I know things will look different this year, but we are still going to have a great year! Please know that I am here for you if you need anything! I plan to put together virtual college visits when available this year to make sure our high school students have access to college information. We also plan to have the SAT School Day and PSAT School Day again this year. I will be sending out more information regarding both of those exams once school starts. I will not be in the classrooms as often, but will still be checking in with everyone to see how the year is going. Also, I am looking forward to putting together a cheer squad and building memories!! If you need to reach me, my email is email@example.com.

Volleyball and Cross-country seasons will begin in August. If you were unable to have your physical done during the school-wide picnic, you’ll need to set up an appointment with a physician to have a physical done prior to practicing. Practices for volleyball and cross-country begin on Monday, August 10. The volleyball schedule has had a couple of dates change due to COVID-19. We will publish the updated schedule as soon as the new dates are confirmed. #WEARECURTIS
