As we wrap up the 2018 year, we want to show our appreciation to our Daycare teachers and staff for taking such good care of our children. We will be hosting a Christmas Reception on Tuesday, December 18, to include breakfast and lunch items. This is something we have enjoyed doing over the last few years. Our 37 daycare staff would feel loved if there were enough goodies to last all day. If you are interested in sending something in, please email Kellie Nieves at email@example.com and let her know what you would like to bring. It will be set up in the Ark (the "boat" at the end of the hallway where Curtis Baptist Church has their nursery). Plates, cups, napkins, and utensils will be provided.

Elementary School News
There is no better way to celebrate the holiday season than to attend our 1st-5th grade Christmas Program on Thursday, December 20, at 6:30 pm in the church sanctuary. This year’s production is titled “The Next Noel.” Pictured are 5th graders Eldrich Henley as Joseph and Riley Dunbar as Mary, and Mrs. Downs, our Elementary Music Teacher. Our students have spent a lot of time and effort preparing for this Christmas musical and would like to invite all CBS families. Mrs. Downs requests that students wear Christmas Sunday attire and be in their classrooms by 6 pm on the night of the program. I would like to recognize and thank Mrs. Downs, Erica Hadden, and Natalie Cabit for their hard work in putting this special program together. Looking forward to seeing you at our 4K and 5K Christmas Program - December 18, 2018 @ 8:30 am.

Middle & High School News
As we come to the close of the first semester, we want to congratulate our Middle School and High School Honor Roll students for their diligence and dedication; the CBS honor roll is posted across from the High School elevator. We also want to congratulate our new National Beta Club members: Nicholas David, Jamaal Miller, and Mallory Moore.
Our Student Council members are continuing to raise money for their SCISA Student Council Conference by sponsoring Festive Wednesdays. Each Wednesday this month, students may wear their favorite Christmas-themed (red and green) t-shirts, sweatshirts, or sweaters for a $1.00 donation (no Santa-related apparel).
The dates for the High School first semester exams will be December 19-21.
On behalf of our MS/HS faculty, we wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
- Mr. Larry Ford, Middle and High School Principal
Home games are held at Cheeks Gymnasium, 2230 Broad Street. You can pay $50 for a season pass that covers all home games, including both middle and varsity games.

At our recent Staff Appreciation Luncheon, we recognized staff who have worked 5+ years. Five of our CBS teachers have worked 30+ years: Yvette Goldman (30), Deloris Black (31), Cookie Bodie (33), Shirley Goldman (34), and Tammy Lee (35). Thank you to all our staff for their years and heart of faithful service to Curtis Baptist School and Daycare. Pictured are Mrs. Goldman and Mrs. Bodie.
CBS Personnel Committee Update
We are thankful that Mr. Scott Phillips and his family stopped by for a quick visit before Thanksgiving. He met the High School students at their Thanksgiving Feast and visited teachers and staff after school was out.
Mr. Phillips will start as the CBS Head of School in early January. Continue to pray for him and his family as they settle into a new home and city, and as he joins us in leadership at CBS.
Crusader Club Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are the backbone of the Crusader Club. During basketball season, we run the concession stand and would be glad to have volunteers to help serve food during the games.
The CBS Christmas Shop runs December 10 - 13. We will need volunteers to help that whole week. It's a lot of fun to watch our children shop! Both 2 and 4-hour volunteer shifts are available.
