From Mr. Scott Phillips, Head of School

ACSI Summary.
Our Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) reaccreditation visit ran last week from Sunday, October 24 to Wednesday, October 27. Thank you to all who have been praying for CBS during the accreditation process and to those that helped in meeting with the team.  The team will recommend to the ACSI commission that CBS receive accreditation for another 5 years; we will not receive the final report until the end of December.

In the process of accreditation, ACSI always gives commendations and recommendations which we will share at a later time with our school family, one commendation stands out and allows CBS to brag on a couple of our employees.  The accreditation team stated that this particular commendation does not happen often and usually does not get a rating of 4 (exceeds compliance).  So, a huge shout out and thank you to our kitchen staff, Traci Hall and Kathy Johnston, for being given a rating of 4 on how they handle, store, process, and cook meals for our students as well as keeping the kitchen clean.

Sports News

Volleyball End of Season Summary.  In addition to being Region Champions for the 2nd year in a row, the CBS Varsity team played in the SCISA State Tournament on October 22 in Myrtle Beach. They won their first game, but will not advance to the finals. Congratulations go to Celia Ulrich for being named Region IV-A Player of the Year and Angel Tilton and Kadence Anderson for being named to the SCISA All-Region Team. Angel Tilton and Celia Ulrich played in the All-Star Game on October 30 in Sumter, SC.

The Middle School Team was seeded 3rd coming into the Middle School SCISA tournament on October 16 and won their 2nd straight SCISA Region Championship. Players recognized were Lily Crane as Tournament MVP, Maci Butler and Trinity Wilson for the All-Tournament Team.

We are so proud of all our players for their hard work. They had a great year and represented Curtis well.  Congratulations to all of the players on a great season!  Go Curtis!!

Golf End of Season Summary. The CBS Middle School Golf team played in the Championship meet on October 26 at Forest Hills Golf Course.  Two of the five who played scored their personal best for the season.  We are proud of these students for stepping up and learning something new - their hard work is building a strong foundation for years to come.

Tennis End of Season Summary. Middle School Tennis played in their tournament at Newman Tennis Center on October 26.  Both Chase and TO won their first matches. TO won his second match and advanced to the third match which he lost.  The best part of every season is to see their progress, hard work, and determination.

Cross Country End of Season Summary. The Varsity Cross Country team had a delayed season but ended with great results. Ansel Lowe beat his previous run times in each of his 3 mile runs following his first one. His last run ended at the Fox Creek Invitational with his record time of 23:13.

The Middle School Cross Country team started off with two new runners who built each other up throughout the season. Each week they worked hard to reach their goal of beating their previous times.  Hudson Atkinson ended the season running 2 miles in 15:30 and Axil Lowe ended the season running 2 miles in 16:11.

We are very proud of our runners and the effort they left on the running paths. We look forward to the next season of running!

Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes

We are excited to partner once again with Samaritan’s Purse and Operation Christmas Child! This ministry shares the love of Jesus with children all over the world in a very simple way.  Shoe boxes are available in the Elementary Office and Church Ministry Center with a list of suggested items to fill your shoe box. Every gift-filled shoe box will be delivered to a child who will hear the gospel, possibly for the first time.

Operation Christmas Child
shoe boxes can be dropped off in the daycare office, any of the school offices, or in the Ministry Center.  The Elementary School will be holding a Shoe Box Dedication chapel on Tuesday morning, November 16 if you are able to turn your shoe box in by then.  All shoe boxes are due in the Ministry Center by Monday, November 22 no later than 12 pm.
