January/February 2021 Newsletter

From Mr. Phillips, Head of School

Re-enrollment for the 2021-22 school year is upon us. We pray that you all will consider continuing to partner with Curtis next school year.

If you are planning on returning to Curtis Baptist School for the 2021-22 school year, please take the time and re-enroll before the end of February to save $100 on your re-enrollment fee.

Early enrollment is important as it allows us to plan for our faculty and staff needs for the next school year.

If you know of a family that is looking for a school that provides a Christian education, we ask that you let them know that our Open House will be
January 21st from 5 pm–7 pm.

- Mr. Scott Phillips, Head of School & Athletic Director

Middle and High School News

Happy New Year.

January is an exciting month for our Middle and High School. We have a new year, a new semester and new opportunities to enjoy the extra-curricular activities. This semester our students will be attending Chapel with Middle School meeting the first and third Thursday of each month and High School meeting the second and fourth Thursday.

We will have a different themed Spirit week each month. Our first Spirit week will be the week of January 19-22. Watch for more information from our Student Council.

One of the highlights of our year is Homecoming which is scheduled for Friday, January 22, 2021. Watch for more information concerning the Homecoming from our Athletic Department.

Elementary School News

Welcome back from Winter Break and to our 2nd semester of school!  Although our Christmas program was different this school year our students really enjoyed presenting their performances to their parents and families via Zoom.  Thank you for your support and participation in the Reverse Advent Calendar Donation Drive. Our next D.E.A.R. Day is February 12th. CBS Homecoming is next week and our Elementary students are invited to participate in Spirit Week.  Thank you all for your continued support.  Looking forward to a great semester.

Daycare & Preschool News

We have finished the year with great gospel lessons based on the Christmas story. The new year has brought a fresh start to our teachers and children. We are excited to continue on with our curriculum for this school year. Teachers are working on various academic, social, and emotional skills. Assessments were sent out to most all 2/3/4 year old families. The assessments are simply a way to see a child's progress and development of where they need to be before entering into the next school year. Classes are working on academic skills, writing names, speaking and listening skills as well. The month of January and February opens the door to re-enrollment for families. We are encouraging all families to complete their re-enrollment applications as soon as possible to secure a spot for the 2021-2022 school year. February will be filled with a lot of love and fun celebrating each other as we move into Valentine's Day and the completion of re-enrollment. March will follow with open enrollment for new students. Thank you, as always for all of your support and encouragement. We are beyond grateful to have our families support us in the joys and trials. Happy 2021!

- Mrs. Kellie Nieves, Daycare and Preschool Director

From the Athletics Department

We are halfway through our basketball season. All of our teams are doing well and are improving as the season moves on. We are proud of how our student-athletes represent Christ and Curtis while on the basketball court.

Baseball and softball will be starting up practices as soon as the basketball season ends. We are working on building a baseball and softball schedule. We are also planning on having a varsity tennis team this year as well.
