March 17th will mark the one-year anniversary of how COVID-19 changed our lives at Curtis Baptist School. It was the first day that we began online learning for the remainder of the school year. Not only did COVID-19 affect our lives here at school, but it affected what we all do daily. In looking back over the last quarter of the 2019-20 school year and the first semester of this year, our teachers and students have all learned a lot about handling change. Change is not easy for anyone, but change is a part of life we have to be prepared for and accept. We were thrust into teaching and learning online with very little preparation. It was a definite challenge for both our teachers and our students. We made some adjustments for this school year and were prepared in case we had to close temporarily.
With the stories I have heard from other schools in SCISA and associated with ACSI, Curtis has been blessed this year, even with our recent temporary shutdown. We have learned a lot in the last year, and we are still learning as we move through this pandemic.
We have had to make a few changes and cancel a few activities that we usually do each year, but as we move forward and learn how to live with this new virus, I believe we will eventually get back to normalcy.
We have been focused on the safety of our faculty, staff, and students this year. Still, our mission remains the same: To infuse a Biblical worldview in all areas of academics, fine arts, and athletics, developing bold and devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
In looking forward, we may continue to fight this virus for some time to come, but our vision is to continue to offer more opportunities to our students in every area of the school. As our enrollment increases, we will be able to provide those new opportunities.
I want to thank you all again for partnering with us here at Curtis. Thank you for the encouraging emails, and most of all, thank you for your prayers.
My prayer is that you will continue to partner with Curtis for the 2021-22 school year so that we can continue to work towards implementing our vision for the school.

Middle and High School News
In just a few weeks we will begin to see the first signs of spring, which means we are entering the final months of the school year. Even though we have had to make adjustments to some of our activities, we will continue to offer our MS/HS students the opportunity to succeed academically and socially.
Our Curtis Baptist Church youth ministry team is doing an awesome job of providing inspirational chapel services for our middle and high school students. The chapel service offers students the opportunity to interact through music, games and listening to Bible studies that are relevant to their life experiences.
We want to thank our parents, students, faculty, and staff for making our Google classroom experiences a success during the week we were virtual. We will always have a few challenges with online learning, but our experience this time was far better than in the past.

Elementary School News
I am excited to have all our students back in the building after being out for a week. The students worked really hard doing virtual learning but we missed them at school. It is such a joyous sound hearing them sing in the classrooms and to be so enthusiastic about learning. Please be on the lookout for your students report card on March 22nd. Our students will be hard at work as they begin to prepare for TerraNova testing which will take place the last week of March. This month we celebrated our 2019-2020 Read-A-Thon winners. I want to thank Brusters, Chick-fil-a, Pelicans, Texas Roadhouse, Stars and Strikes, and Pizza Joint for their donations and supporting our students' love of Reading. As always thank you for your support and entrusting us with your child's Christian Education.

Daycare & Preschool News
March has started our open enrollment. We are excited to see what this coming school year has to offer. Students in our one year old classes are enjoying the weather and outside time, and have been working on more gross and fine motor skills as well as their ABC's. Two year old classes are focusing on their listening and speaking skills as well as their basic language skills focusing on phonetics and Bible foundations. 3K students have enjoyed developing their writing skills with their name as well as other foundational readiness skills. 4K students are also developing in their readiness and writing skills as well as building their Biblical foundation as we finish the school year. God has done great things in the development of our students. We are thankful for the wonderful support during a trying season.
