College Planning

IMPORTANT DEADLINES FOR GRADUATING SENIORS!


Seniors, take a look at the College Planning and Graduation pages of the CECP website for important information about preparing for college and a list of important deadlines for your graduation. 

  • Have you taken your senior photos?
  • Have you met with your advisor and completed the graduation application?
  • Have you registered to retake the SAT or ACT if you weren't happy with your scores from last year? 

If you are in the midst of applying to colleges, you know it's time to request transcripts and letters of recommendation.  Here's what you need to do:

TRANSCRIPTS and LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
If you need transcripts or letters of recommendation, please be sure you are sending your requests via Parchment. Parchment is a transcript processing center that allows you to submit requests for both official and unofficial transcripts. Our registrar will no longer accept paper transcript requests. If you do not have an account already, please click here. If you experience problems setting up your account, please contact Shannon Miles, shannon.miles@coloradoearlycolleges.org.

Textbook Reimbursement

Process for Rentals, Access Codes, and Consumables
Reimbursement window is December 3 - December 20
If you rented ALL of your textbooks for the fall  semester, you are eligible for early textbook reimbursement starting December 3. 
If ALL of your textbook expenses were rentals, access codes, or consumables (workbooks or lab manuals) you need to email the following to Mrs. Sundeen (rachael.sundeen@coloradoearlycolleges.org) to receive reimbursement.
If you rented 
  • Textbook Reimbursement Policy and  Form
  • Receipts (must show proof at textbook was a rental)
  • Class Syllabi to show required textbooks
Rented textbooks should be returned to the vendor from which they were rented.
Once Mrs. Sundeen has received all of the above items, you will receive a mailed reimbursement check up to the amount left in your CEC tuition voucher with a maximum reimbursement of $500.00.   Requests for spring reimbursement after December 20 will not be approved.        
 
Process for Purchased Textbooks
Textbook Buy Back Days
Friday, December 7, 2018 - 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
or
Thursday, December 13, 2018 - 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Bring your form, books, receipts, and syllabus and leave with a check!
To receive reimbursement for purchased books, bring the textbook reimbursement form, receipts, class syllabi, and the textbooks, to CECP during one of our Textbook Buy Back Days on December 7, 2018 or December 13, 2018.  If you bring all of the above items, you will leave with a reimbursement check up to the amount left in your CEC tuition voucher with a maximum reimbursement of $500.00!  Requests for fall reimbursements made after December 13 will not be approved.         
In order to receive a reimbursement check, bring the following to CECP during the Textbook Buy Back Day.

Laptop Reimbursement
Laptop reimbursement window is November 19 - December 20, 2018

CECP offers a one-time laptop reimbursement to support student success in college coursework.  Students MUST have funds remaining in his/her $2,100 semester tuition voucher after all tuition, fees, and books have been deducted in order to be reimbursed for a laptop.  If you do not have enough funds to be reimbursed, you can choose to be reimbursed for the amount you have remaining in your tuition voucher OR, be reimbursed the following semester.  Click here for our full laptop reimbursement policy, requirements, and request form

Testing Accommodations
TESTING ACCOMMODATIONS FOR PSAT AND SAT 

If your student has an IEP or 504 plan, please be on the lookout for a consent form authorizing Colorado Early Colleges to release records that document the existence of the documented disability and need for testing accommodations. This is an important process that needs to be completed well in advance of the testing dates in April.
Scores will be cancelled if accommodations are used without College Board approval.

Colorado School of Mines Opportunities

SUMMER MULTICULTURAL ENGINEERING TRAINING (SUMMET) 


What's SUMMET? The Summer Multicultural Engineering Training (SUMMET) is a two-week engineering, science and technology program designed for rising juniors and seniors who are from underrepresented populations, including ethnic/racial minority, women and prospective first-generation college students.  There is an application process and you must have a GPA of 3.3 (unweighted) or higher. There is a $50 confirmation fee if you are accepted into the program.

GIRLS LEAD THE WAY LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
FEBRUARY 10, 2019

Are you a high school girl interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)? The Girls Lead the Way Conference could be what you’re looking for.

The Society of Women Engineers-Mines Collegiate Section and the Rocky Mountain Professional Section are sponsoring a conference for girls who are interested in being leaders in STEM. This year’s theme is “Boldly Go Where No Woman Has Gone Before.” The event includes engineering/applied math or science activities, a majors panel, a parent/guardian information session, and a campus tour.

Cost is $30 per student. This covers a continental breakfast, lunch, and activities supplies. There is no charge to parents/guardians for the optional sessions. Lunch is not included for parents/guardians.

Deadline to register is January 29, 2019.

Coolidge Scholarship

High school juniors take note!  The 2019 Coolidge Scholarship is now open. The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that you may use at any accredited college or university in the United States. If you are a high school junior who will be enrolling in college in the fall of 2020, you are eligible to apply.

Holiday Craft Fair

Mark your calendars!  On December 8th from 9:00 a.m. - noon, NHS and CECP Parent Group is hosting the 2nd Annual Holiday Shopping Event. We will have over 26 vendors and a wait list. NHS GAME NIGHT


NHS is hosting a game night from 3:30 p.m.  to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18. We will have a variety of board games, Jackbox Party Pack games, candy poker, and more! Feel free to bring your own games as well!
Admission is free and snacks and candy for candy poker will be available for purchase. We hope to see you there!

Calling all Teen Fashionistas!

Parker Secret Closet is having a fashion show and gala and they need  your creativity to "up-cycle" a dress or tuxedo. No sewing experience necessary, work with a team of friends and parents, and get a stipend for materials! 

Teens will up-cycle a dress or tuxedo from Parker Secret Closet and embellish it with recycled materials. Get creative! Win an amazing prize!
Teens will also act as runway models, and they will do all the hair, makeup and photography.
