First Physics Graduate Wins Posthumous Grammy Award

The Recording Academy chose Harvey Fletcher to win a posthumous Technical Grammy Award for his work with Leopold Stokowski and the Philadelphia Orchestra. This partnership produced over 100 of the world’s first stereophonic recordings, or recordings using multiple independent audio channels. Today, Fletcher is known as the father of stereophonic sound.
