CPMS ORCA GRANT PRESENTATION
Wednesday, September 14, 2016
5 p.m. to 6 p.m., C-295 ESC

Pizza will be served in the ESC Pendulum Court at 4:30 p.m. prior to the ORCA presentation beginning at 5pm.  ORCA will inform CPMS undergraduate students how they can apply for a $1,500 grant so they can work with faculty in a one-on-one mentoring setting. Proposals for the 2016-2017 academic year must be submitted by Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. For more info, click here

OPENING BBQ

The Graduate Student Society will host a free BBQ with JDawgs and face painting. Graduate students and their families are invited.

Students need to apply for graduation online then visit the Advisement Center in N-181 ESC.
DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 15, 2016

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH POSTER SESSION
Undergraduate students involved in research with a faculty mentor in CPMS can enter a research poster competition, sponsored by the HBLL science librarians. Submit a 50 by 40 inch poster (maximum size) for display to the Science & Engineering Help Desk on the second floor of the HBLL. The students and their mentors are expected to attend a special event October 13, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to share their research with visitors. The top three winners will receive $200, $150, and $100 gift card prizes. For more information, click here

SUMMERHAYS LECTURE
The annual Summerhays Lecture, titled "Evolving Faith: Putting Evolution in an LDS Context," will feature Dr. Steven Peck from the BYU Department of Biology. The lecture is on September 22, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the WSC Varsity Theatre. For more info, click here.

WOMEN'S CAREER CONVERSATIONS
This biannual luncheon provides an opportunity for women students in STEM fields to listen to women professionals from academia and industry. This event is on September 27, 2016 at 12 p.m. in the Hinckley Center 3rd Floor Assembly Hall. For more info and to RSVP, click here

BYU STATISTICS PROFESSOR COMPETES IN RIO OLYMPICS
Professor Jared Ward finished sixth in the men's marathon in a personal record of two hours, 11 minutes and 30 seconds. Read about it here
