Jim Somerville is Pastor of Richmond's First Baptist Church and Co-Founder of A Sermon for Every Sunday.

There's nobody quite like Will.

And nobody who preaches quite like he does.

Will Willimon is a bishop in the United Methodist Church, a prolific author, and a popular speaker.  He was once named by Baylor University as one of the 12 most effective preachers in the English-speaking world.

He's only gotten better.

This week's sermon is a good example.  Will has a way of drawing us in with his Southern charm and storytelling ability.  He gets us all standing on his side of the field, rooting for his team, and then makes us wonder if we are rooting for the right team after all.  In the story of Jesus healing the Centurion's servant, he shows us how sometimes people outside the faith understand "this stuff" better than we do.

How many outsiders sit in your church's pews week after week?  How many of them might know better than you do what the church really needs?

Will's sermon is based on this week's Gospel lesson from Luke 7:1-10.  It is available on YouTube (click the image below), on our website, and in high-definition download on our Vimeo site.
A Sermon for May 29, 2016: The Second Sunday after Pentecost

the Second Sunday after Pentecost called,
"When the Outsiders Get It Right"

The sermon can be projected onto a screen or a wall in a worship service (find instructions on our website); shown on a flat screen TV in a Bible study, a small group, or a Sunday school class; or used for personal viewing on a laptop, a tablet, or a smartphone.
