Summer 2018 Edition

Thin Places, Sacred Spaces

I have been invited to join with seven other photographers to be part of the exhibit Thin Places, Sacred Spaces at the Waitsfield United Church of Christ as part of the Valley Arts Festival.  For this show I re-worked three images from the Basic Significance series, breaking each down into sections, printing the sections onto large sheets of paper then sewing them back together.  The images above, Earth Danced Under a Heat Haze (left) and Nebulous Uncertainty (right) are 55" long and 19" wide with reassembled sections.  A large version of Majesty of Despair (not shown) will also part of the show.

The opening reception will be Saturday August 4, 3:00 - 5:00 pm at the Waitsfield United Church of Christ  4355 Main Street, Route 100 Waitsfield.

The show has a very short run and will only be up Fridays and Saturdays Noon - 5:00 pm,  August 4 -19.  Better not procrastinate!

While in the Valley be sure and take advantage of the other events happening during the month long arts festival.  Calendar here.

You will also be able to see the work of all The Front's fabulous member artists.

New American Family

There is still time to see the photo/text story of the Bhattarai family at the O'Brien Community Center.  This timely project was a collaboration between the Bhattarai family, writer David French and myselfThe show closes next Tuesday July 31.

A big shout out of thanks to Kim Schmitt for introducing us to the Bahhtarais, Dan Higgins for his on-going support and Sister Pat McKittrick and the Winooski Peace Initiative for offering us the space and sponsoring the opening.  This project was funded in part by the Vermont Community Foundation's Vermont Art Endowment Fund and private contributions.

Upcoming Event

I will be sending work to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be part of this show.  Described by the curator Ren Adams as a "Curated group exhibition featuring 24 artists engaging the nature of 21st century "depthiness," "truthiness" and "post-truth" within the constraints of a two-dimensional surface."
