Last Weekend at GHC

What an incredible club made up of incredible people!
A covering of snow was not going to stop our Saturday home fixtures from going ahead!
Huge thanks to Andrew Fergusson, Mark Edwards and Jeremy Holt who turned up early doors on Saturday to start clearing the snow - plenty of Men's 2s and Ladies 1s players and supporters joined in, too.
Just goes to show what a great club Guildford is - going the extra mile to support each other in the interest of hockey. Guildford - a Great Place to Play!
Before
During
After
The Ladies 1s then warmed up the pitch further with a 4-0 win over Chiswick. Followed by the Men's 2s who won 5-3.
Meanwhile, the sun did its job on the Sand pitch and the Ladies 3s won 5-1 followed by the Ladies 4s who won 2-0. Home matches were all wins - 16 goals scored and only 4 conceded!
Unfortunately some of our away matches didn't go ahead so we look forward to those being played soon.
On Sunday, most pitches were playable from about mid-day. Morning fixtures, sadly, were cancelled.
We had three clean sheets in EH Cup Tier 1 including the Under 18 Boys 5-0 over Marlow taking them to Quarterfinals and the Under 16 Boys 2-0 over Sunbury and Walton Hawks and the Under 14 Boys 8-0 v South Berkshire in their groups.

This Weekend at GHC

All twelve of our senior teams are in action on Saturday including six home matches to enjoy.
Come and support our 1st Teams (promise, no snow clearing beforehand!):
13:15 Ladies 1s v Havant
15:00 Men's 1s v Slough
Sunday was also meant to see the L1s and M1s in consecutive matches, this time in the EH Cup Tier 2 competition. However, the Ladies' opposition have pulled out of the competition which means they progress to the next round while the M1s face Mid Sussex at 14:30.
It is a County training day for U13-17s so there are not a lot of Junior League matches on Sunday, but we will still have seven age groups in action including league matches for GU12, BU12, BU10, GU16 and BU16 teams whose players are not involved in the county squads.
The Under 18 Boys play in the Quarterfinals of the EH Cup Tier 1 competition at Sevenoaks. Winner takes all in this knock-out competition - good luck, boys!

The evening raised over £1600 for the club and people got very much into the races. Dave Hall did a great job compering the evening while Ladies 1s team members were running the tote, the bar and the kitchen!!

Sport Godalming organise these challenging 5k and 10k races through the countryside and around Godalming in the heart of the Surrey Hills, including a section through the grounds of Charterhouse - picture postcard stuff, plus there is a great 1k Fun Run for the kids.
The Godalming run was first established as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012 and to celebrate the London Olympics.
Since then the event has attracted thousands of entrants and raised over £17,000 for the Sport Godalming Champions Fund, Go for Gold, which supports local Godalming based athletes in their bid for Olympic stardom.
See the Godalming Run website for more information and to book:
