Last Weekend at GHC

Senior League Results from Last Weekend

GHC Ladies' 1s continued their unbeaten run in the league last Saturday with a win over the League leaders!

And the Ladies' 2s enjoyed a fantastic win and clean sheet to trade league table places with Old Cranleighans in their push towards the top. The final two matches will be critical - best of luck, ladies!

The Men's 1s won the battle of chances created but drew v Banbury. Some good hockey played - shame about the result.

Junior Round-up of Sunday Fixture Results
What a day for GHC Girls and Boys Under 12s!

The Boys competed in the Surrey Cup with two teams in two different Cup competitions. One team got to semi-finals.

And the team competing in the higher level Cup won all of their matches without letting in a goal! They came away with the Gold medals and progress to the South Finals (qualification for National Finals).
Surrey Champions

The Girls competed in both the Surrey Cup and the Surrey Plate on Sunday,

Four teams played in the Plate and two teams in two levels of Cup competitions. Three teams came away with Silver medals, including the top Cup team who also progress to South Finals!
Surrey Runners-Up

That's both Boys and Girls U12s progressing to South Finals!

In 11-a-side competition, The Girls Under 14 A team won their final Premier League match of the season against Surbiton to finish as League Winners and progress to League Finals Day. Well done girls!

And the Girls Under 14 B team won their final league match 4-0 to secure 2nd place in their league table.

The Girls Under 16 A team played their final England Hockey Tier 2 pool match, winning at Alton and qualifying for the T2 Area Finals taking place at GHC (tbc) on Sunday 5 April. The Girls will also compete in League Finals Day on 22 March at GHC.

The Boys Under 16 A team competed in the England Hockey Tier 1 Area Finals and came close to qualifying for National Finals but couldn't quite get the result needed on the day against a strong Cambridge side.

Surrey Youth Games 2020

GHC will be running the hockey sessions for SYG 2020 for both Waverley and Guildford Boroughs!

For those unfamiliar with the games, the objective is to get children ages 6 to 16 to try a new sport.

8 weeks of coaching sessions are free (!) and then there is a big inter-borough tournament/event on 13-14 June at the Surrey Sports Park.

The sessions start in April and will run on a Wednesday evening - tell your friends who don't (yet) play club hockey.

For more information and to sign up, see the Surrey Youth Games webpage.

If anyone would like to help fund/sponsor our SYG 2020 Coaching, please get in touch with Dan.
COVID-19 Advice

We are all no doubt aware that the novel coronavirus situation is changing rapidly.

Please pay close attention to the public health advice. Self-isolate or call 111 as advised...

Surrey Hockey Association circulated the latest advice from the Department for Education and Public Health England - here is what they say:

If you have travelled to an affected area or been in contact with someone from an affected area, heed the advice.

Better safe than sorry - stay home if the advice says you should!
