Junior hockey was mostly friendly and internal matches due to the half-term break, but the Boys U14s had a good 1-0 league win over Old Kingstonians.

Next Sunday 7 Junior teams have matches in the England Hockey National Championships - watch this space...

Also last week: GHC Young Leaders Programme

This week also saw two more training sessions for our GHC Young Leaders - the nearly 40 GHC Juniors helping coach their younger peers this season.

That old adage of "you learn best when you teach" rings true - these young people are truly inspiring for their dedication to the task and passion for the game.

This week had them thinking about what's gone well so far, what they have found difficult and what they think makes an inspiring coach.

The Young Leaders programme is helping build their confidence, communication skills, self-reflection, ability to deal with a range of ages (adults and young children) and gives them experience working with peers and people from different backgrounds.

For years GHC have provided opportunities like this to our Junior players to fulfil their Duke of Edinburgh volunteering requirement. This season, GHC Director of Hockey Dan Fox has taken the programme to another level and we are proud to say this is probably the strongest programme of its kind in the club system across the country.

This Friday night sees all of the Young Leaders and Junior Coaches taking part in the "Name Challenge" - we have 650 juniors at GHC including some very large age group squads. Who knows the most Junior player names?!

Prizes will be tickets to Lee Valley to watch GB hockey!

Welcome New GHC Partner/Sponsor!

GHC are very excited to announce our newest partner, Guildford Business Park. Many of you will be familiar with the park - a familiar site for commuters on and off the A3 near Ladymead in Guildford. Make sure to think of it in any dealings you may have with people looking for grat office space...

With fast access to both the rail and motorway network, Guildford Business Park is ideally located for modern business. You have access to a highly educated and skilled work force, as well as the young talent coming out of Guildford’s University of Surrey. It’s no surprise that household names such as Philips, Enstar and Colgate Palmolive have already decided to make it their home.
Designed to offer fun and rewarding lifestyle opportunities for all tenants, Guildford Business Park provides a range of opportunities both on and off the park, from weekly sporting activities to dry cleaning, self-defence workshops and even express manicures.

Events are hosted throughout the year, including; summer BBQs, Christmas festivities and sporting themed celebrations, all taking place at the newly refurbished Caffè Kix conveniently located on the site.

Tenants are also entitled to an exclusive privilege card which enables them to enjoy discounts and promotions at some of Britain’s best loved food and retail outlets in Guildford, as well as a number of leisure and entertainment attractions.

The park also runs regular shuttle buses to and from the station.

It sounds like a winning place to be - the perfect partner for a growing and thriving GHC. Make sure to tell your friends and colleagues about GBP!
