Winter Wanderings

Welcome

Dear Readers and Listeners! Happy New Year! Bonne année! Welcome back for Issue #10!

The new year has set in, and with it comes new resolutions, new projects, but also reflections and that post-holiday slump. For me, I have a mix of excitement about all the projects to come this year, but also some blues about the cost of completing these projects, the time it takes to do each, while also juggling several jobs and dealing with a foreign country's bureaucracy maze....

Ongoing Projects

- Over the holidays, I have written a horror/Christmas novella that centers on a lovable, but spoiled cat called Lagerfeld. The publication for this is set for the end of this year. But, the first five who respond to this email get a free copy of the story as well as the concept art that comes with it! Get a sneak peek early!

- I have received the final illustration for my children's book. Now we are working on bios and interior/exterior formatting before publication!

- I co-hosted the November Spofest Rough Draft and Open Mic event. You can find the playback here of poets reading their original works or responding to a prompt here: November Spofest

- I have published a poem called "Gainsborough Hat" in the Perspectives Magazine. Link to buy it is here: Perspectives Magazine.

- I am officially represented by The Book Dragon in the UK and am also an official reviewer for them. If you are ever in Stockton on Tees, please go inside and take a look at all the wonderful books and art available. If you watch the video, you can see one of my books on display at around 8:55!  Book Dragon Diaries

Upcoming

1)  I have two poems that will be published in Southern Arizona Press’ Anthology Love Letters in Poetic Verse in February.
2) I have a jazz song that I will publish on Spotify very soon.
3) More jazz and instrumental songs are to come this year - all original compositions

If you have any questions or want to share anything, you can connect with me on Instagram or Twitter or simply reply to this email. Remember, the first five to respond to this email will get a free copy of my short story along with concept art.

As always, feel free to share the newsletter with friends who might be interested in my content.
Take care all!

Dear Readers and Listeners!
Never dreamed there’d come a day when I’d start a newsletter, but here I am.

I’m Sophie, a more often than not frazzled French teacher, an author and a composer. I have reached the point in my career where I have published my first novel and my first few albums.

So exciting!

I’ve come a long way from sharing poetry, little stories and piano compositions with families and friends…

In college I started publishing stories and music in online lit magazines, and now, the plunge: self-publishing my novels and albums.

I’d like to use this newsletter to make connections and share my experiences.

I’ll do my best to write every month about my journey and the writing/music process and trends in those communities. I’ll be sharing pictures and videos of readings of my works and discussions about a particular writing/music topic.
