Pacific Standard Time LA/LA Features
Latin American Art

6 San Diego art institutions participate in Pacific Standard Time LA/LA Now through January 2018
Through a series of thematically linked exhibitions, including six in San Diego County, Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA will present a wide variety of important works of art, much of them new to Southern California audiences. While the majority of exhibitions will have an emphasis on modern and contemporary art, there also will be crucial exhibitions about the ancient world and the pre-modern era. With topics such as luxury objects in the pre-Columbian Americas, 20th- century Afro-Brazilian art, alternative spaces in Mexico City, and boundary-crossing practices of Latino artists, exhibitions will range from monographic studies of individual artists to broad surveys that cut across numerous countries.

Six San Diego County art institutions are participating:
Museum of Contemporary Art,
Museum of Photographic Arts,
San Diego Museum of Art,
University of San Diego University Galleries,
Mingei International Museum of Art, and
Oceanside Museum of Art.

Current Educational Collaborations

Transportation and admission funding is shared between ArtsBusXpress and these organizations.
Requests for the 2017-2018 school year are coming in.
Cygnet Theatre San DiegoCygnet Student Matinees are a wonderful field study to better understand the “behind the scenes” thinking and production process leading up to the theatre presentation.  Not only will your students enjoy a wonderful theatrical play, the Cygnet staff will conduct a pre and post workshop with plenty of interactive discussion about the play.  You just might create the next Tony award recipient right in your own class!  Apply for a bus grant.
If you are a teacher who needs funding for bus transportation to another venue not listed in this newsletter, apply here for an ArtsBusXpress grant.  We do our best to support all requests, but due to limited funding, we can't approve all bus grant applications.
