A Salute to the Class of 2020 and
ABX Intern Sonja Cayetano
They were the “Hope” born after 9/11, raised on SpongeBob SquarePants and the iPod, and entered kindergarten with the iPhone. They are the children of the digital age. So, if there was a class that could adapt to virtual and drive-by graduations, it would be the Class of 2020.
Graduations are looking different as school and community officials hustle to provide closure and celebration for their students. We salute our graduates and applaud the achievements of our own ABX Intern, Sonja Cayetano, a Mission Bay High School student with a long list of honors and achievements.
Sonja moves on to UCLA in the Fall where she will be a World Arts and Cultures Major. Sonja shares, “This is a unique major that discusses the ways in which art is a catalyst for social change and observes the societal implications that creative platforms have on culture and identity.” Sonja’s studies will emphasize artistic activism and she plans a career as an arts educator or museum curator with involvement in non-profit organizations. “Sonja, to you and all the 2020 graduates, Congratulations! Go make the world a better place.”

We'll Be Here When You Get Back!
Hello Teachers and Principals,
We trust you are well and safe. We believe that your desire to get your students “outside” with amazing field trips to the arts and sciences will be higher than ever. With significant budget cuts due to the pandemic, we know funding for bus transportation to a museum, symphony, aquarium, research lab, tide pools, and live theatre will be hard to find. That’s why we’ll be working harder than ever to be here when you’re ready again to schedule a field trip to the arts and sciences.

A Visit to the Beethoven Performance of the San Diego Symphony!
A note from Bill Fish, Music Teacher.
As the teacher of the after-school, sixth-grade, beginning strings class at Roosevelt Middle School, I wanted to thank you for the incredible experience my students and I experienced at the Beethoven performance of the San Diego Symphony on Feb. 11th. The whole event was absolutely terrific, from the wonderfully organized chaperones who had to herd so many school kids into the magnificent hall, to the phenomenally performed music of the symphony.
