Memorial Day Weekend Hours and New Summer Hours

Summertime is nearly upon us!  Starting next week - the week of Memorial Day, I will be CLOSED ON THURSDAYS.   That way I can catch up on my reading, gardening and (ugh) housekeeping!  This means our hours will be:

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays 10-5
Saturdays 10-4
Closed Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays

This is just for the summer and I'll announce the return to regular hours around Labor Day weekend.

FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, which is this weekend, I will be open from 10-1 ONLY on SATURDAY instead of the usual 10-4.  Please be sure to get your weekend stitching supplies in time for you to have a great Memorial Day weekend!

What's New?

The Market in Washington D.C. will be held in June of this year.   Before and during the market, you may be seeing new items on websites, in ads, etc.  Never fear!  I can order anything you see, just ask.  I want to continue to be your favorite local needlework shop.

In the meantime, Maggie let me know that Corinna Luyken's designs will be discontinued by the request of the artist. Any of these that Maggie has in stock are first come, first served and then they're GONE!  Be sure to see them on Maggie's website.  Just click this.   There are two pages of them.  Let me know if there are any you can't live without and you'll get a 20% discount on any you order through me!  The picture above IS a Corrina canvas and I have it in stock!

New Designer

I've also received news of a new line of canvases by HSN Designs.  The one pictured here is my favorite so far and is by artist Barbara Tourtillotte.  May I order this for you?
New Pippin Designs

Pippin has come out with some fresh fun designs for summer.  Her work is usually on 13 ct. so keep that in mind when deciding.  I think I can request them on 18 ct. if you'd prefer.  The one above is my favorite...pumpkins and gourds!  You can see the newest designs here  and just email me for prices.

Stitch Winter

Of course Winter finally came in the door - the book, not the weather! - and went right back out.  I can give you an overview of this new book from Little Shoppe of Canvas and I'll be ordering more.  This book is called Stitch Winter and concentrates on Angels, Bells, Bows, Candy Canes, Holly, Judaica, Holiday Lights, Ornaments, Presents, Santa Hats, Snowflakes and Trees.  However, unlike their prior books, Stitch Landscape and Stitch Ins and Outs, these are not individual stitches suggested for an area.  Instead, they're more of a patterned stitch in case you want a background all in candy canes, or bows, etc.  Each shape can of course, be used individually for a particular piece on your canvas, but they are mostly made up of tent stitches.  There are borders between the shapes and these are more creative with different stitches.   It's 109 pages, spiral bound to lie flat, measures 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" and retails for $52.  Call me at 810-694-3040 or 888-694-3040 toll free to order a copy or use our handy website by pushing here.

Stitches Volume Four by Ruth Schmuff

This is the 4th book in Ruth's series and I'm happy to say she has decreased the size of the book to the 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" size with the spiral binding measuring another inch.  The large ones are great but SO HARD to lug around.  She also has the book in 8-1/2 x 11" size in case you have the other 3 in the large size and want to have your books match nicely.

This book has the stitches arranged alphabetically within their type.  The types include Diagonal, Straight, Crossed and Tied, Eye, Darning Patterns, Laid Fillings, Blackwork and Decorative Stitches.  The book is 347 pages long and weighs in at just over 1-1/2 lbs.  There are usually two graphs per page and Ruth tells me that there are more than 300 stitches in this book.  The small size is $48 and we have several in stock and of course, will re-order as necessary.  The book has been added to our website here.

Although many of you have taken advantage of our SALE area, I still have plenty of merchandise at attractive prices that needs a good home.  I've marked additional items down even further to entice you! Don't forget to check our SALE area often while in the shop OR online.  You might be surprised at all the treasures you can find!  To review our Sale Items push here.

I hope you have a SAFE and happy Memorial Day weekend.  Be sure to remember those that died so that we could continue to enjoy our lives, our country and our outstanding freedom.  It's also a good time to thank our veterans, active military personnel AND their families for all they've done and continue to do for this nation.
