Dallas Cash and Carry Market

How many of you hear me say I'm not going to buy any more canvases when I run off to Market?  Let's face it.  That's like you saying you're not going to buy any groceries when you go grocery shopping!  However, I DID surprise myself by the amount of canvas I bought.  Some of the sales were SO GOOD I could NOT say no.  Some of the new canvases were SO EXCITING...I didn't say no.  There are new threads too so read on to see what I brought home and ordered!  But first...the FUN we had!

The Market theme was Stitch, Rattle and Roll and we were all encouraged to "dress like the 50's".  Poodle skirts and greasers were in great supply as were 50's candy (thanks Painted Pony!), root beer floats and ice cream sundaes.  At our banquet, an appearance was made by Elvis, the Fonz and Mama Cass.   This big haired lady was a real hit with the crowd too!  (Names not provided to protect the innocent!)

The Deals, the Steals, the Canvases!

Yes, I blew my budget right out of the water.  But I know you'll want to help me by purchasing all the great deals I found.  I went a little nuts at Artists Collection,  Melissa Shirley, DJ Designs, Maggie, Ewe and Eye, The Red Thread, Kathy Schenkel, JP Needlepoint, Amanda Lawford and Nenah Stone (new designer).  I went TOTALLY crazy at Danji Designs and everything I bought was NEW because they had so many NEW ornament designs.  For my online friends, I will STRIVE to get these canvases on line ASAP!  I put a few on today and you'll find them under SALE and What's New.

Oh...and I think I ordered some stuff too.  :-)

Now onto the:

Let's start with Kreinik where I bought CONED threads.  Did you know that many of our suppliers would be happy to sell me large amounts of coned or skeined thread?  If you have a big background or area to cover, consider buying in bulk.  You'll save $$$ and THE DYE LOT WILL MATCH!

Rainbow Gallery had so many new items that I bought one of each color until I know what you want.  First of all, they have a new thread called Capri.  It's 100% polyester and has a smooth looking matte finish.  There are two sizes - for 13 ct. and 18 ct. canvas.  There are 25 colors in each size.  You have to see it and try it for yourself!  I'll have samples available next week. It's the second picture in the second row.

There's a new white Patent Leather I can order for you (no picture below) if you want that white patent leather look on something.  Next, they came out with TWENTY-THREE new colors of Entice.  You might remember this is the rayon thread with a strand of metallic.  I'm telling you, that metallic makes all the difference in the world taming that rayon!  I bought a color ring while I make room for all these new threads!   Next, FIVE new colors of Rainbow Angora - yummy!  This stuff is a delight to work with especially if you have a little area that needs a VERY special soft furry feel. I ordered all 5 new colors of Neon Rays + in Red, Denim, Buttercup, Honey Gold and Sand Gold (no picture shown).

Please don't look for these items on my website yet!  If you want any of these, call or email me and I'll set them aside for you as I have more on order.

Picture of Entice is first on top, Angora is on left, second row below this article.

Just to keep us wanting more, Gloriana introduced a new thread of Cashmere and Silk.  This 5 yard skein only comes in Fresh Snow and Silver Fox currently but it's soft, delightful and perfect for a Santa's Beard.  I'm TAKING ORDERS for this one so be sure to let me know if you want any.  At $8 per skein, it's a feel good investment.  It's a four strand silk and is pictured below the Rainbow Gallery threads.

There are also NEW silk floss colors from Gloriana and they are pictured.  Do you know that we carry all of their silk floss colors?

Dream House Ventures, makers of the wonderful Soy Luster and Baroque Silk came out with 25 NEW overdyed Baroque Silk colors.  For those of you that haven't used this silk yet, I recommend it highly for 13 ct. canvas because you can stitch with it AS IS!  For 18 ct. you can use two strands for regular coverage or one strand for a "lite" stitching look.  These new overdyed colors are SCRUMPTIOUS.  Again, I only purchased a color ring (one each) and I'm taking orders until I get my order in.  These are $5 each and contain 15 yards of 3 ply silk.

Yes, Raymond is coming!  Well, not Raymond himself but his Trunk Show!  And really, isn't that what you want?  WE LOVE RAYMOND CRAWFORD'S STYLE.  He's got some of the best Halloween and Christmas pieces out there.  You can check out his style at

I expect the trunk show to arrive by Saturday, October 10th and you'll have plenty of weekends to come see it.  Can't make it in?  Of COURSE we'll take your order by phone or email AND your purchase may be eligible for the drawing.

I hope that's enough excitement for now.  Happily I've brought the excitement back from Dallas with me so if you come in and I'm bouncing off the walls, don't be surprised.  Please give me time to get all these purchases on my website as I'm the only one here as you know!  If you need something NOW, just call or email me.

Happy dreams of stitching,
