It's the email you've all been waiting for! 

THE WORLD'S BEST NEEDLEPOINT GARAGE SALE RETURNS TO HOMESTEAD NEEDLE ARTS, SATURDAY JULY 18,  2015.

Our popular Needlepoint Garage Sale returns for your selling and purchasing pleasure again this July! Remember, we now have a seller fee.  There is no fee to attend!  THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE THIS YEAR - THE ACTUAL SALE IS ONE DAY ONLY!   The reason for this is simple - the busy day is the first day!  I've chosen Saturday so everybody can attend. 

REMEMBER, CASH OR CHECKS ARE THE ONLY METHOD OF PAYMENT FOR THE GARAGE SALE ITEMS.  Anybody wanting to use a charge card for garage sale items will have to pay an additional charge fee. 

This is the time that customers can sell their own items and you browse their treasures. You'll find painted canvases at unheard of low prices. You might find stretcher bars, the needlepoint book you've always wanted, out of print charts, and threads galore at the World's Best Needlepoint Garage Sale. Brought to you every other year by Homestead Needle Arts, there are a  few rules to make this easier. The following information will answer all your questions about participating.

1. SELLER FEE:
This year again there is a $1 PER ITEM SELLER FEE WITH A MAXIMUM FEE OF $25. The garage sale has grown significantly over the years and has become a lot more work. The fee will be paid when you drop your items off .  You will need to pay this fee by cash or check. Please keep the fee in mind when pricing your items. Your fee will not be returned if the item does not sell.

2. WHAT YOU CAN PUT IN THE GARAGE SALE:
Your items must be needlepoint related. That includes canvas of any type or size, threads of any type, books, and stitching tools of any type or size. Yes, canvases you have started and/or finished are acceptable! NO MAGAZINES, NO CROSS STITCH, NO KNITTING ETC. Start going through your guilty pleasures and get rid of those items you don't want anymore!

3. MAKE A LIST OF YOUR ITEMS AS FOLLOWS:
 Using a piece of 8-1/2 x 11 paper put your NAME, DAYTIME PHONE NUMBER AND YOUR THREE INITIALS AT THE TOP. Then number it down the left hand side using the same numbers as your pieces. 001, 002, etc. Give me a SHORT description of each piece for example: 001 Bird canvas, 002 needlepoint book, 003 flower canvas AND THE PRICE! If your price is not legible on the tag I can refer to your list.

4. TAG EACH ITEM AS FOLLOWS:
 Your items must be marked with your price wanted and your 3 initials clearly on a tag that we can all find. Use tags that will stay on or with your item.  Stapling them to the canvas is BEST.

 DO NOT PUT YOUR CANVASES IN PLASTIC. THEY SELL BETTER IF THEY ARE NOT IN PLASTIC BAGS.
 
NUMBER YOUR ITEMS BEGINNING WITH YOUR THREE INITIALS AND BEGIN AT 001.

 Make sure to use the correct numbers and don't skip any!  I will check them in USING YOUR LIST. For example if your name is Jane Anne Doe your first item will be JAD001 $5.00 and the next item will be JAD002 $2.00. If you wish to be anonymous, make up initials. I'm not picky. Just be sure that your list has your REAL name and phone number on it so I return unsold items to the correct person.

5. WHAT ITEMS REQUIRE PACKAGING:
It's best to put small items in a clear plastic zip lock bag. Threads should be in clear zip lock type bags to keep them together. IF THEY GO WITH A CANVAS, STAPLE THE BAG TO THE CANVAS.  REMEMBER, NO SMELLY ITEMS!  NOBODY WANTS MILDEWED OR SMELLY ITEMS!!!  

6. DROP OFF DATES:
Drop off of items BEGINS SATURDAY JULY 11 and ends at close of business on Friday, July 17. Have a friend drop off for you if you can't stop by. Remember THERE IS A SELLER FEE WHICH MUST BE PAID WHEN DROPPING OFF THE ITEMS. Yes, you may participate long distance if you want to ship your items here but you will be responsible to pay the shipping back for any unsold items unless you want me to donate/dispose of them. Enclose payment method for the Seller Fee and the shipping fee with your package.   PLEASE NO SELLING TO OTHER CUSTOMERS WHEN DROPPING OFFI know I shouldn't have to ask this but it has happened many times in the past.  This is a service Homestead does for you and your support of Homestead and your kindness is appreciated!

7. SHOPPING DATES:
Come back and shop for yourself ONLY ON SATURDAY JULY 18 FROM 10:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M. There are GREAT DEALS here. The garage sale is only successful because there are BUYERS as well as SELLERS. Please let all your friends who needlepoint know about the sale too. There is something for everybody at the sale. Be sure to support your friends who are supporting you! BRING CASH OR CHECK ONLY FOR ITEMS.  ANY CREDIT CARD SALES WILL BE CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL PERCENTAGE FEE!    REMEMBER THERE IS NO FEE TO ATTEND AND SHOP!

8. PICK UP DATES:
Come back and pick up your unsold items and get a copy of your shop credit from TUESDAY, JULY 21 THROUGH SATURDAY, JULY 25.  NO early pickups! If you don't want your unsold items back, please let me know when you're dropping off for the Garage Sale. They will be donated or disposed of in any manner I see fit. Any items not picked up by the deadline of July 25th will be disposed of!  No exceptions!  I don't have the space for storage.

9. PLEASE USE YOUR SHOP CREDIT:
Use your shop credit by 12/15/15. Turn those old unwanted treasures into a new Lowery stand, a beautiful new painted canvas, or a treasure of new threads! Shop credit is good on merchandise ONLY. Yes, you MAY order any item but credit is NOT good for finishing, classes, etc.

MORE NEW IN THE SHOP!

Walker Bags are here!  These colorful mesh bags are a favorite for storing projects and/or threads.  I chose both double and triple zippered bags this time.  If the color or size you want is not here in the shop, I will collect orders from customers.  NOTE!  I can't get new items on the website fast enough.  Please call me with your order as it may be awhile until I get these online. 

The ones on the left measure 9 x 12" and are "doubles" .  There are two separate compartments, each with a zipper so you can store different things - retail $28.75.l  I also have 11 x 14" doubles in light blue/light green and hot pink/orange (not shown) - retail $35.25.  

The bags on the right measure 11 x 14 and are "triples."  There are three separate compartments each with its own zipper - retail $45.25.. 

 
 

Darling scissor fobs from Puffin and Company are here...and some of them may match your magnets!  There's a heart, cat, birdhouse and dog.  At only $13.25 you'll want several for you and your stitching friends.  Not online yet...just call me.  We also have their magnets in stock!  New to us are the quilting block magnets.
