“The land is made up of the dust of our ancestors’ bones."
— Anishinaabe Elder Mary Deleary

“The land is made up of our ancestors’ bones. And so to reconcile with this land and everything that has happened, there is much work to be done… in order to create balance.”

Anishinaabe Elder Mary Deleary at a Traditional Knowledge Keepers Forum sponsored by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Homelessness among Indigenous Peoples is directly connected to historical and ongoing trauma, oppression, dispossession, racism, and discrimination.

RainCity Housing is a non-religious non-profit with a simple and lofty mission: to provide a home for every person. For 30+ years, we’ve put generous donor dollars to good use to create, implement, and manage housing and support programs that sustain relationships, strengthen communities and make change for people experiencing homelessness and mental health, trauma and substance use issues throughout B.C.'s lower mainland and Sunshine Coast.
One of our most innovative and ground-breaking programs to date is our Indigenous Cultural Services program. It reconnects Indigenous/First Nations folx who live in RainCity buildings with their culture, kinship, ceremony, and seasonal celebrations. This helps to:
  • Create safer spaces for Indigenous folks to connect and be seen
  • Bridge cultural and service gaps
  • Center Indigenous ways of being, knowing, and doing

We need your help to expand our Indigenous Cultural Services program in 2021.

What about RainCity Housing's other programs?

All of our programs can always use more dollars. We’re highlighting our Indigenous Cultural Services program this year because the specific needs of this program have grown. That said, if you prefer your donation to go where we think it’s needed most when it’s received, we can do that!
Your donation directly impacts the people who access our services. Because of you, more people will have more opportunities to make healthier choices.
