LandScope Surveys the Thames

We have recently undertaken a bathymetric survey of eight reaches of the River Thames in Oxfordshire.

The resultant output will consist of a multi-beam swath as well a 0.5m grid of soundings. This data will be used by the Environment Agency to determine rates of erosion / siltation, which, in turn, will inform decisions regarding maintenance of the watercourse.

GIS Manager Speaks at CIHT Event

Sarah Jones, LandScope's GIS Manager, spoke at the CIHT's Highway Maintenance Seminar earlier this week.

At the event, which was sponsored by LandScope, Sarah presented alongside Mark Kemp of Oxfordshire County Council on managing the local authority's highways assets with a particular focus on:
  • Utilising the autoMAP Mobile Mapping system to create a detailed asset inventory, thus allowing for asset evaluation and assessment and;
  • The use of Teledyne's BlueView equipment to provide data that enables assessment of bridge condition both above and below the waterline.

Integrated Survey on the Devon Coast

Earlier this month, our surveying team completed a multi-discipline survey on the Devon coastline for the purposes of coastal flood prevention and beach management.

As well as topographical survey data having been acquired, the autoMAP Mobile Mapping system was used to obtain data on Dawlish Warren beach a low tide and along the local road network. LiDAR data and ortho-rectified imagery were also acquired from a UAV system across Dawlish Warren beach and the mudflats at Star Cross.

LandScope Welcomes Principal Surveyor

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Keith Buckley as Principal Surveyor.

Keith took up post at our Shropshire office at the beginning of April, working within our survey team providing technical support to all projects and a superlative quality assurance to each of the survey and 3D scanning / modelling arms of the business.

Despite starting with LandScope just a month ago, Keith has dived straight into work and is currently Project Manager for a monitoring survey campaign in the centre of London.

Prior to joining LandScope, Keith worked for 13 years in South Africa and the Middle East, most recently as Offshore Survey Project Manager responsible for a variety of projects in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
