Based on the Topcon IP-S2 Compact+, LandScope Engineering's autoMAP mobile mapping service is able to rapidly and simultaneously acquire high accuracy LiDAR point cloud data and high resolution 360° panoramic imagery and video.

The Race is On!
As such a diverse service, autoMAP has seen many a sight across the country. Just this week the system has been deployed to the Isle of Man to map the TT and Southern 100 routes.

LandScope has been contracted by the Isle of Man government to create a highways feature asset spatial database with individual feature snapshots. This will allow for an accurate data holding of what assets are possessed, allowing for the development of an effective programme of maintenance planning, and visibility of such assets without the need to visit site.

It is envisaged that, following the creation of the initial inventory by LandScope, further asset extraction can be undertaken in-house by the government.

Such an innovative approach to data acquisition brings benefits in that one campaign can satisfy many different customer requirements. In this instance, due to accuracies achieved during the targeted control campaign, it will be possible for the data to be utilised for 3D modelling, gaming and simulation purposes.
Highways Management 2015
We are pleased to confirm LandScope's attendance at the Surveyor's Highways Management conference, at which we will be exhibiting our autoMAP service and its range of applications within the highways sector.
Date: 23rd and 24th September, 2015

Venue: The Point, Old Trafford, M16 0PX

We would like to invite you to register for the two day conference, and offer you a 48% discount as a guest of ours. Please use the code above, and don't forget to come and say hello!

Everything Geospatial at Orbit

As Gold Reseller Partners for the UK, we are pleased to announce that Orbit Geospatial Technologies has just released version 11.1 of its Feature Extraction and Asset Inventory mobile mapping software.

Having recently visited Orbit HQ, we have witnessed first hand the significant improvements this release has made to the 3D viewing engine, as well as new features such as edge detection capability.

Please contact us for further information on the full range of Orbit mobile mapping products and services.
Driving the Beach

Earlier this year, LandScope completed a multi-discipline survey on the Devon coastline for the purposes of coastal flood prevention and beach management.

During this project,
autoMAP was used to acquire mobile mapping data along:
  • Dawlish Warren beach at low tide – for coastal defence condition assessment and general beach management; and,
  • Dawlish Warren road towards Star Cross  – for highway infrastructure mapping.
The output from the autoMAP system has ensured that the user has access to the mobile mapping content within the Orbit interface, enabling a ‘Google Street View’ type visualisation and geo-referencing, given the measurement tool.

Having the ability to bring the outside in unlocks the potential for efficient site viewing, verification, validation, measurement and design - without the need to venture outdoors!

Mapping London's Cycle Superhighway 2

LandScope was recently contracted by Ringway Jacobs to map the Cycle Superhighway 2 in Central London for the purpose of a pre and post works record and dilapidation assessment.

By deploying the autoMAP mobile mapping system to acquire such data, the client was able to acquire quickly a permanent photographic record of its project at pre-construction phase.

As the data was delivered within the Orbit ‘Google Street View’ interface, the client received significant added value through its intuitive user experience.

Further information on this project can be viewed here.

Further Developments
autoMAP can now be combined with two of the newest LandScope services!
  • Bridge Survey and Inspection - to provide a complete topside, underside and underwater survey of bridges and associate structures, and;
  • Mobile Radar - to complete an integrated above and below ground highway survey.
