Tasmanian Electricity Prices Hit 2 Year Highs
Last month we reported that Tasmanian Wholesale electricity prices for Calendar 2016 had jumped by 25%. Unfortunately by 20th October a combination of low water in storage (now 29%) and high Victorian prices saw that trajectory kick up again. Cal 2016 prices recorded a 40% gain from their record lows of mid 2014, hitting just above 5.6c/kWh. For buyers who have yet to tender their 2016 contracts, this is the most vexing part of the price cycle. For strategies to mitigate the impact of rising energy rates, competitive tenders and rate benchmarking, call Marc now on 0418 596 162.
ABC State-wide Tasmania host Sarah Gillman interviewed Marc today on the GBE Annual Reports of Hydro Tasmania, TasNetworks and Aurora Energy, you can find a link to the Audio file here: http://www.goannaenergy.com.au/newslettersAndUpdates.htm
The next few months will see Goanna continue our customer advocacy efforts in earnest, with John Devereaux completing his representations to the TasNetworks Tariff Reform Working Group and Russell Reid kicking off the Tasmanian Small Business Council's Natural Gas Supply Chain investigation. Whilst Marc will be heading to King Island as part of the Organising Committee for the UTAS Isolated Power Systems Connect Workshop. For more information click on the links below.
