Tasmanian Energy Update

October 2015

Welcome to our 8th Birthday Edition where we are celebrating saving our Tasmanian clients $8M in energy costs. We thank those of you who took the time to complete our client satisfaction survey. We were most impressed with the individual commentary which had a strong and recurring theme of fast response times and effective communication. You said our top 3 attributes are:

1. Reliable, we do what we say we will.
2. Useful, our services help our clients.
3. High quality service providers.

Thank you very much!

In mid July 2014, around the time of Repeal of the Carbon Tax, Tasmanian forward wholesale electricity prices for Calendar 2016 set a bottom point of just below 4c/kWh. Following which, Tasmanian prices demonstrated a modest upwards trend until this September, which has seen National prices rally and Tasmanian wholesale pricing for Calendar 2016 hit just above 5c/kWh. Whilst past performance is no indication of future results this trend has seen many clients ask us to test the market for their contract renewals well before existing contract expiry dates. This strategy has allowed our clients to update their energy budget forecasts and where satisfactory, lock in future energy rates. For more information call Marc now on 0418 596 162.

Earlier in 2015 the Economic Regulator found that Tasmanian Business customers were paying the highest costs for Natural Gas in the country. In November 2015 Goanna will continue it's collaboration with the Tasmanian Small Business Council, focussing on Tasmania's Natural Gas Supply Chain. These days electricity network tariffs make up around 60% of the delivered cost of electricity and Goanna are working closely with our clients and their peak industry bodies to minimise these costs. For more information on Time of Use and Maximum Demand based Network Tariffs contact John Devereaux john@goannaenergy.com.au or visit http://www.goannaenergy.com.au/electricity.htm

On Friday 11th September ABC State-wide Breakfast Host Leon Compton interviewed Marc on the state of the Tasmanian energy market, Residential Heating and Hot Water Tariffs and the upcoming GBE reporting season. We often have people say, "I heard Marc speak at ... but I really don't know what your company actually does". So this month you can find out how we've made energy cheaper and easier for other Tasmanian businesses in our new Capability Statement. Email marc@goannaenergy.com.au now for your copy.
