Last week, the Family Hub Partnership group met and agreed that it was each of our responsibilities to create opportunities for our teams to be engaged and kept up to date with family hubs in Sutton.

If you would like someone to come to your team meeting, or you’d like a conversation, or to sit in on a family hub partnership meeting, please let the relevant lead know:

All the best and please do get in touch if you’d like to talk directly with me about Family Hubs

Lorna Jacques

Senior Strategist for Children

On behalf of our Family Hub Partnership Group

Our progress so far!

Family Friendly spaces - Lead: Kelly Saini Badwal

  • We are looking at four physical ‘hubs’ across the borough, with some additional spaces in schools, community venues etc.
  • We will provide some practical options for how our spaces across libraries, children centres and some community spaces could be made available for services to book and use, in a way that is accessible and easy.
Families shaping services - Lead: Jenny Batt
  • We are beginning to recruit families as volunteers to take part in shaping the spaces for Family Hubs.
  • Parents/carers and young people will get the chance to shape the changes to our spaces to make them more family friendly. If you have someone that would like to take part in this please let us know!
Supporting Staff - Lead: Laura Noulton
  • A working group are developing plans on what we need to become ‘Trauma Informed Sutton’
  • A full training programme is being considered for practitioners and senior managers

Improving pathways - Lead: Angela Killalea

  • We have had three workshops with professionals, we are now going to have three workshops with families to help provide the three policy/pathway areas that we want to change/improve for family hub working.

Integrated advice and support - Lead: Laura Devereux

  • We’ve decided to focus on testing our information and advice pop-ups in primary schools and on high streets
  • We are testing a group in Roundshaw that brings a GP, infant feeding support, health visitor together for families.
  • We have tested a Registrar within the Children’s Centre and will look to scale this across other areas
  • There are monthly integrated drop-in advice sessions running in Roundshaw and St Helier, organised by Sutton Jobcentre, with multiple agencies present

Improving information sharing - Lead: Paul Lenaghan

  • We are going to try out a family hub panel/surgery for parents, who aren’t ‘open’ to services but need some multi-agency support. Parent/carers will be present, as will a family hub connector. This will be trialled in the Autumn.
  • We are going to use the same approach across our partnership to consider impact and outcomes for families. This is the Supporting Families Outcomes Framework. This will take time but it will involve all of us adjusting our assessment tools slightly and our way of working, so we can look at the outcomes for families as a partnership.
  • There will be an opportunity for all partners to attend a Q&A session with Paul and the LA Data Protection officer to ensure it is fit for purpose and supports your organisation.
