PTSA Advocacy Chair
As most of you know, 2019 is a legislative year, and advocating for change in the school funding model is at the top of the list for many. AISD is losing $670 million to Robin Hood/Recapture, which is a function of Chapter 41 of the Texas Education Code and is intended to equalize educational spending across school districts that have varying amounts of property wealth. The Chapter 41 provision recaptures local tax dollars from property-rich districts and redistributes the funds to property-poor districts. This is great in theory but is not working in practice.
If you are interested in learning more about this as well as about the TX PTA and AISD legislative priorities, please consider becoming the LBJ/LASA PTSA Advocacy/Legislative Chair. Email lbjlasaptsa@gmail.com if interested.
PSAT Score Interpretation Night
LASA will host a PSAT Interpretation Night on Thursday, January 10th from 6:30-7:30 pm in the LASA/LBJ theater.  A representative from local test prep company More Than A Teacher will be here to help with score interpretation and answer questions.
