Help needed for accepted student parent coffees
Saturday, March 9th PFLASA is hosting 2 coffees in the LBJ/LASA library (10-11:30am and 1-2:30pm) for parents of accepted students. The goal of the coffees is to share information, answer parents' questions, etc., so we'll need  volunteers. Please signup if you can help set up, greet, and/or visit with parents of accepted students: http://signup.com/go/aRqsvTS  Students are welcome, but the focus is on having parents of current students available to talk with parents of accepted students.

LASA 2nd in Silver division of Cyberpatriot state round
Results are in from the state round of the Cyberpatriot tournament in which six teams from LASA participated.   One of our  teams placed second out of 80 Texas teams in the silver division.   A platinum team and two silver teams will move forward to the next round.  The two silver teams are both all LASA women teams.   The Cyberpatriot competition challenges student's skills in computer security.  Great job by all the students!
LBJ/LASA Reflections Kudos
Congratulations to LBJ/LASA Reflections Art Contest participants: Sarah Chieng (Visual Arts), Ethan Oroshiba (Music Composition), and Elizabeth Smith (Literature).  These students were recognized at the district awards ceremony held January 25th.  Sarah Chieng and Ethan Oroshiba earned the Overall Award of Excellence in their categories.  Their entries advance to the state level competition.  Congratulations and best of luck to them both!
Wellness Tip
Fitnessgrams were done last week at school, and the important role physical activity plays in mental health was reinforced through the announcements and signs around campus.

Most people know that getting exercise and enough sleep improve learning and mental health.  However, many teens get far less sleep than the 8-10 hours recommended, and don't exercise regularly.  Instead of cramming for exams, students should pace their studying and invest in a good night’s rest before the big test. The next time your student is stressed out suggest taking a walk or dance break to increase mental sharpness and decrease stress.
