Dan Hauser Earns Accreditation  in Public Relations (APR)

Dan Hauser recently earned his accreditation in public relations (APR) from the national Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). He joins just 90 other Minnesota PRSA Chapter members who hold the APR designation, the recognized gold standard for public relations practitioners since 1964. Hauser is Director of Communication, Education, and Events at the Minnesota Medical Association.

During a rigorous process, Hauser demonstrated competency in the knowledge, skills and abilities required to practice strategic public relations effectively in today’s business arena. Candidates must be seasoned working professionals with substantial experience. The assessment involves presenting a communications plan before a Readiness Review panel of active APRs and a three-hour exam, among other requirements. Accredited professionals are required to remain committed to high ethical standards, complete continuing education, and serve in volunteer or leadership roles within the public relations field.

“I've contemplated getting my APR for several years. I'm glad I finally took the time to attain it,” said Hauser. “It's already made me a better practitioner. I'm finding that it has been definitely worth it."

Before his current role at the Minnesota Medical Association, Hauser was a senior communications consultant at Xcel Energy, following public relations leadership positions in Minnesota agencies, including Tripp Agency and Karwoski and Courage, a division of Martin Williams. Early in his career, Hauser worked as a news editor for Ehlert Publishing Group and for Skyway Publications. He has a degree in Journalism and Communications, with a Concentration in Film Studies, from the University of Iowa. He has won awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Minnesota Newspaper Association, and is an active committee member with the Minnesota Chapter of PRSA.
