Time to Embrace Change

Technology is always changing and in order to keep up companies have to stay with the curve. There comes a time when it is no longer beneficial to the user or manufacturer to continue supporting equipment that is quickly becoming obsolete and can’t compete with the newest updates and security features. For manufacturers of consumer electronics - think your Samsungs, Apples, etc. - the older model products don't sell in the same volume as newer ones and replacement/repair of aging devices is difficult and possibly more expensive than buying a newer model. Often times leftover inventory can be sold in fire sales so production of certain products can simply cease afterward to make replacement by the manufacturer impossible. In doing so, it also quite bluntly puts the nail in the coffin for that particular product.
 
For the line of Polycom SoundPoint IP phones that time is coming. Polycom has already stopped manufacturing the SoundPoint IP line. Despite them ending manufacture the "end" is not yet soon impending as Polycom has promised to support the models until December 31, 2019 and NocTel will support the line until then as well. This model of end of life/sunset is common for manufacturers to raise awareness while also provided existing customers a window to replace/update.
 
While you still have time to enjoy your SoundPoint IP phones, we encourage all of our customers to consider the Polycom VVX Business Media Phone series, which replaces the SoundPoint IP series. The VVX Series offers a wide variety of improved functionality and a better user experience.

Making Call Routing Work for Your Business 
NocTel's inbound behavior controls can be very powerful and when used properly can make your phone system do some impressive things. The NocTel platform is designed to allow users to have fine control over the inbound routing of calls among other highly tunable properties. One effective combo is using Schedules with the "Perform Next Step Only If" action to create routing based on the time of day. With these tools, you can create routing options to send callers to live representatives during your operating hours and to menus or voicemails when outside of available hours. There are many ways these features can be used. For instance, one radio station uses this function to direct calls to a live studio when the announcer is present and taking calls during a live show. During other times callers are routed elsewhere. These are just a handful of examples of how NocTel can accomplish specific and sometimes complex routing specific to your organization and operations.
