Weather Notices Made Easy with Adjustable Toggles

Adjustable toggles are a great feature of NocTel that allows users to create custom virtual on/off toggle switches that can be used to enable dynamic call routing. With the season of inclement weather approaching, now might be a good time for your organization to give adjustable toggles for weather-related notices a fresh look. 

When the weather creates dangerous driving conditions or power outages, businesses and schools often open on a delayed schedule or close for the day. Often times this creates situations where people call to check your organization's operating status. With adjustable toggles in place, your organization can quickly activate a pre-recorded notice to play and adjust the call flow if needed.

Adjustable toggles provide an easy and convenient way for you to make quick adjustments to call flow. The toggles can be changed via NocTel's online control panel, so your team doesn't even need to be on site. Also by creating them ahead a time a new message doesn't have to be created each time. With adjustable toggles and just a few clicks, your team can switch the routing to fit your needs and change back to normal operating schedule quickly.

Call Forwarding for Emergency Routing 

Call forwarding is another tool that can be leveraged for your business or organization in an emergency, weather-related or not. Call forwarding can be used to send calls to a cell when you away from your desk. In cases where there are power or ISP outages, forwarding can be used to send calls off-site for a time. You can even set up forwards to off-site answering services, that roll-over automatically using inbound call behavior features.  Call forwarding can be set up in the control panel or dialing *72 followed by the forwarding number for an extension. This Month in Telecommunication History

On  November 18th, 1963 the Bell Telephone company, after nearly three years of testing, officially introduced dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) technology under its registered trademark Touch-Tone and the first electronic push-button phones to use DTMF over the old pulse dialing method. The touch-tone system used audible tones for each of the digits and later in 1968 added two more keys (# and *) to accommodate various additional services that would be too niche to accurately capture with just digits. 

Over the next few decades, touch-tone service replaced pulse dialing and eventually became the worldwide standard for telecommunications.
