The New VVX EM50 Expansion Module

In our October 2018 newsletter, we showcased Polycom's new line of VVX x50 series phones. One item missing from the new line was the expansion module to accompany the VVX 450 model. Polycom has released details on the EM50 expansion module and they begin shipping next week.

The expansion module is the optimal solution for telephone attendants, receptionists, and other power users who handle multiple workflows, simultaneous calls, and numerous transfers on a daily basis where quick access to others is crucial. The new expansion module quickly installs to the VVX 450 via the side USB connection and carries the same sleek design as the handset.

Zeroizing an Extension

Zeroizing is a great feature to use when extensions need to be cleared or reassigned in case of staff changes. Zeroizing allows for a number of settings to be returned to default while keeping the device connected and enabled in the account. Making User Access Changes

Changing a user's access level grants them different permissions inside the control panel. Users with administrator access can make changes to other account user profiles. Users who are no longer associated with an account can also be set to inactive, this ensures that the user can no longer access the NocTel control panel for the account. Improved Search for Call Logs
The call logs within NocTel's control panel are a useful tool that users can leverage for diagnostic and review of historical events. Our development team has worked to improve searching for call logs with more specificity as well as improving the search responsiveness of results and loading of individually selected calls. 

The new search features, enable the use of any combination of four search fields: Timestamp, Direction, Source, and Destination. 
  • Timestamp: search based on a date and time
  • Direction: search based on call direction: 
    • Any: Any call direction
    • Inbound: Calls received to an account number from an outside originator 
    • Outbound: Calls places by an extension to a number outside the account
    • Direct: call placed between extensions within the account
  • Source: The number or extension that initiated the call
  • Destination: The number or extension that the to which the call was placed. 
All four fields can be used to narrow the search focus, which can be very helpful if trying to locate a single call for a review. Each field uses a specific format structure, and NocTel has an article that details using the call log search feature and what formats should be used for each field for the best results on our user knowledge base

The Call Logs page also allows users to access the detailed call log for any call in the list by clicking on it. The detailed view contains information that can be useful in testing and reviewing new inbound call behaviors, and other diagnostics.
