Welcome to our "Brave New World"
15 June 2020 -

Open from 10:00 - 17:00hrs*, it feels good to be back & firing on
2 of 3 cylinders again. Marina will rejoin the gallery in July.

*- we may need to adjust both opening times & days in the first few weeks but I know you'll understand this tweaking & fine tuning of things.

Fay Collins'  "Drawn to Water" solo exhibition can finally be seen in the gallery, concluding June 28th, the only chance to (finally) see this beautiful new body of paintings under one roof.

We hope you are well & are coming through this unprecedented period in our history relatively unscathed.

Much has happened, whilst very little has been happening, the website and on-line shop have been very busy, likewise social media.

Cumbria Life Magazine have featured NLG represented artists in the past two editions and also in the next two editions. The next spread appears in a couple of weeks, laid out over four pages.

The road in front of the gallery, St John's St, is to become one-way by the end of June (fingers crossed) with pavement widening also planned, so expect a little re-signing & initial confusion if you're coming to visit us in person, but a far safer pedestrian environment will be one benefit.

Because the on-line shop and gallery have proved so very popular during Lockdown, expect more artists to be represented as on-line only, meaning we can cast our net a little wider, hopefully bringing you new, interesting and exciting artists, art work which may not necessarily feature the local landscape, including award winning photographers as well as painters, graphic artists and more.

New work which has arrived in-gallery includes paintings from Godfrey Tonks & Venus Griffiths, plus Mark McMurdie & Maria Burton, ceramics by Christine Cummings & JJ Vincent, tree sculptures by Clive Maddison.

Expect a whole lot more once artists start arriving with their Lockdown artwork, so stay tuned on IG, Facebook & Twitter (to a lesser extent).

Finally, to ensure both staff and visitors are as-safe-as, we have installed Perspex shielding around the front desk, some 2m distancing floor signage, disposable masks / face coverings at the door if you don't have your own, hand sanitiser throughout and we ask that all our visitors wear face covering whilst in the gallery, as will staff members.

I know people are going to be both tolerant & patient during these early days from June 15th, we so much want to open again, welcome you back & hear your stories of this shared experience.
