Dr. Bill Dyck of First Baptist Church as our keynote speaker this year. Kelly Johnson of Home Away From Home and Mehdi Arjmand will also be speaking. Meet Our Speakers

Bill Dyck is currently the Interim Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church Calgary. Prior to coming to Calgary he served as a Professor of Theology in Indonesia for over 10 years, where he taught in the local language (Bahasa Indonesia). He continues to serve as adjunct faculty for Carey Theological College in Vancouver, specializing in intercultural communication. He holds Master in Worldview Studies and Doctor of Ministry degrees. He has a passion to serve immigrants and served as the Pastor of International Ministries at First Baptist Church before taking on the role of Interim Senior Pastor. He also has a passion for language learning and speaks at least three fluently, maybe five, depending on how fluency is measured. He has served on numerous volunteer roles, and is currently on the Board of Directors of The Mustard Seed.

Mehdi Arjmand came to Calgary in 2008 to ontinue his education in Mechanical Engineering. He got his MSc, and then started working in the gas industry. His two brothers live in Calgary, the rest of his family is in Iran. He has been involved in supporting homeless children and working against child labour since 2000. He has also done some fundraising in Iran and Canada for children in need. His most recent efforts include bicycle riding to Vancouver and climbing Kilimanjaro.

Kelly Johnson trained as a teacher, worked on a hospital ship in West Africa, and then returned to Canada where he has worked as a chaplain at the U of C for the past 19 years. He is married to Barb, a nurse, and has 4 kids, the eldest of whom is in Costa Rica with YWAM for a Discipleship Training School. Kelly will be sharing some of his experiences with the Friendship Program: Home Away from Home. Currently there are over 200 graduate students connected to over 80 families in Calgary through this Friendship Program.
