Despite a rather soggy summer thus far, we are eagerly looking forward to August and the hope of warmer, sunnier weather then. As we move toward September and thoughts of leaves, school books, the Labour Day Classic and other fall events start tugging at the corner of our mind, remember: fall also brings Reaching Out with English! This fantastic 30-hour course is now open for registration.
Thank you for your continued support of CESLM. Your support is both appreciated and vital. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Effective August 1st, Cooperative ESL Ministries has a new address.

Shannon Sutherland Smith's blog article Soul Food Feeds Friendships (also in our June newsletter) was very well received and generated a lot of interest. Anyone who would like to learn how to set this up in their community is welcome to contact Shannon: email@example.com
Shannon says: "It was so easy and so rewarding!"
We Need Your Help
The past year has been challenging for most Albertans, and charities are no exception. Cooperative ESL Ministries has been hit hard by this economy and we urgently need your help to continue with our ministry.
With the downturn in the economy, we have pared back our administrative costs as far as we can while still continuing to function. We cannot continue without your support. We urgently need your donations. Your one-time or monthly gift is appreciated more than you know. Please help us continue to reach out in love to newcomers.
These listings are provided as a courtesy. Cooperative ESL Ministries does not run these programs.
ATESL: Free Session
ATESL is the proud sponsor of the Pronunciation Tips and Strategies for the Language Classroom session, as well as the coffee break that precedes it on Saturday afternoon. All ATESL members are eligible to attend both the coffee break (3:00-3:30) and the Tips and Strategies session (3:30-5:00) for free, but you will need to register in advance by sending an email to me (Silvia) at firstname.lastname@example.org Friday, August 5.
Here is a description of the free session:
Pronunciation Tips and Strategies for the Language Classroom
This Round Robin session will involve several presenters from Canada and abroad who will be seated at different tables. They will welcome about 5 people at a time to learn about a specific pronunciation teaching tip. The presenters have 7 minutes to explain their tip, and then a bell rings, and individuals will have 3 minutes to move on to another table. This session provides an easy and fun way to pick up great new ideas for your classes! The Teaching Tips and Strategies session has been generously been sponsored by the Alberta Teachers of English as a Second Language (ATESL).
Of course, you are also welcome to pay for the full conference. Registration fees are incredibly reasonable for an international conference of this caliber. $170 will get you all of the sessions, the Thursday evening reception, Friday lunch, and a great conference dinner at the Westin. Please see the conference website (https://llc.ucalgary.ca/psllt2016/) for more information, the detailed program, and to register.
