Teen Tween Summer Reading

Read for fun this summer and help others!

The Goal:

  • Every book read by incoming 6th-12th graders between June 1st – August 31st will contribute 25 cents to the Oregon Food Bank to help families in need.
  • Our goal is to donate a maximum of $1,000 by the end of the summer. If teens and tweens all read 4,000 books combined, we reach the goal!

How to Participate (online or paper form):

  • Track your reading online through the Beanstack tracker app (check your app store) or through the Beanstack website.
(If you created an account last year, please use that one. Contact MarkR@wccls.org if you have trouble).
  • Track your reading on our paper form or in a shorter digitally editable form. Take a picture of either form and e-mail them to MarkR@wccls.org when you are done.
  • This year, there will be no prize books to hand out because of safety concerns around COVID 19.
What to Read:
  • Books, audiobooks, graphic novels, manga, and e-books all count.
  • We are not sure what reopening will look like at the library this summer, but there are loads of great e-books and downloadable audiobooks available on Overdrive and Libby.
Cedar Mill & Bethany Libraries this Summer

Our physical libraries are currently closed due to COVID 19. We anticipate slowly reopening sometime this summer, but we do not have exact dates on when that will be or what services we can provide right now. We encourage you to check our website, social media and/or newsletter in the coming weeks to stay up to date on when you can return items or place things on hold.

One exciting development is that the Cedar Mill Library will have a new, expanded parking lot the next time you visit. Construction has ramped up while we were closed, the first layer of pavement has been set, and things will look quite different when we get back.

We can't wait to serve you again soon.
SYNC: Audiobooks for Teens

Teens looking for audiobooks should check out SYNC, a free summer audiobook program for teens 13+. It runs from April 30th to July 29th and it gives participants two thematically paired audiobooks a week. Sign up to get notifications each week when the FREE audiobooks are available. You can receive alerts by text message, e-mail newsletter, or by visiting www.audiobooksync.com. Audiobooks are delivered to the Sora school reading app, a product of Overdrive.
Visit us on social media for fun photos and videos, the latest staff picks and news about resources, programs and events!
