Diverse Reads and Project Lit

Teens may be looking for books by diverse and Black writers now. The Project Lit booklists are perfect for kids seeking to understand a different point of view or to see themselves in the fiction they read. Project Lit started a few years ago as a way to promote books by diverse authors to kids and teens that don't have a lot of access to books. Our library has purchased extra copies of these books and we also have e-book versions of some that are always available right now (no holds!). Check the lists below to see if any of these titles appeal to the teens and tweens that you know.

Teen Council Chowder Chat podcast

Our teen council finished up a rather strange year with a discussion of what they've been doing while in quarantine. Many books were read and many shows were binged. One even worked on a giant origami project!

Teen Tween Summer Reading

Teens and tweens have read over 400 books this summer so far in our effort to contribute to the Oregon Food Bank. For all the details on summer reading and how to sign up, visit the teen section of our website.
