There's no time like the present to try a new sport - perhaps Nordic skiing fits the bill, or strap on the new snowshoes you received at Christmas! Sandpoint boasts a number of easily accessible trails, including those in nearby Pine Street Woods. A new recreation center offers snowshoe and Nordic rentals on weekends (check SandpointNordic.com for more information), making the community forest a perfect spot for casual winter strolls. Of course, there's always the nicely groomed trails - stretching 32 kilometers in all - at Schweitzer Mountain Resort. And keep tabs on the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch just outside of town for details on trail openings there.

Music events heat up Sandpoint

One glance at the entertainment calendar, and you realize Sandpoint is a town that keeps live music at the forefront no matter the season. Take, for instance, the upcoming Yonder Mountain String Band concert Jan. 12 at The Hive in downtown Sandpoint. Or Pend d'Oreille Winery's live music that takes place just about every Friday and Saturday night, along with Piano Sundays for a relaxing afternoon. Even Schweitzer Mountain Resort takes their live music performances up a notch by hosting favorite local bands including Miah Kohal.

Sandpoint loves winter, so let's party!

The 46th annual Sandpoint Winter Carnival rolls into town Feb. 14 ... and the lively celebrations don't end 'til Feb. 23. This year's theme is "Love and Light" - so put plans in place to attend the magical nighttime Parade of Lights, plus Schweitzer Mountain Resort always puts on a fabulous evening show with the Let It Glow! Night Parade and Fireworks. For lodging options, check out the Visit Sandpoint Lodging Page. We'll see you here!
