Summer in Sandpoint ... there's nothing like it!

Open for summer fun

Come on up, the adventures are awesome!

Bike, hike, boat, paddle ... whatever you want to make of your summer, Sandpoint is the place to do it! Our northern Idaho town is in full summer mode with outdoor activities well underway including mountain biking on the local trails around Sandpoint (photo above, courtesy Bike_NorthIdaho's Ben Garrison). And there are lots of events lined up, as well. One of our favorite happenings is the Sandpoint Chamber's annual Summer Sampler (more on that, below). It's a top-notch event!

Kicking off its summer season in the best way possible, Schweitzer Mountain Resort hosts its annual 7B Sunday party Sunday, June 23, with vendors and activities in the village, plus free chairlift rides to the summit! Shop local artisan wares, plus let the kiddos try out the trampoline jumper, zip line, climbing wall, and more! It's a great opportunity to explore the resort's family-friendly summertime fun - and something else to love, no admission!

One bite at a time

Sampler is a foodie's delight

One of our favorite happenings as we head into warmer days and splendid light-filled evenings is the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce's annual Summer Sampler, hitting downtown streets from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 27. Enjoy nibbles and sips from an array of restaurants, breweries, and our very own winery. There's no admission fee to attend and tickets for food range from $3 to $7. Topping it off is country music with Sandpoint's Devon Wade Band, sponsored by Litehouse, and Festival at Sandpoint ticket giveaways.

Let's play in the water!

Boulder Beach opening for season

Kids and parents alike are counting down the days until the popular Boulder Beach Water Park opens at Silverwood Theme Park, which is located just 30 minutes south of Sandpoint. And that day is Saturday, June 8! Top attractions include the Ricochet Rapids family raft slide and the high-speed Velocity Peak waterslide tower. Pictured here is Polliwog Park, perfect for younger guests.
- Want to visit a river, instead? Check out Sandpoint-area rivers for places to go kayaking and rafting; June is the ideal month as river flows are still substantial. Ones to check out include the Clark Fork River, Moyie River, Priest River, and then there's Sand Creek right in downtown Sandpoint.

Last call for CHAFE 150!

Registration remains open for the 12th Annual CHAFE 150 Gran Fondo, presented by the Sandpoint Rotary Saturday, June 15, and named one of the top charity rides in the U.S. by Bicycling Magazine! The 150-mile route is a grand loop around the Cabinet Mountains, along Lake Pend Oreille, and through river valleys, encompassing one upriver leg, two downriver legs, and one huge lake! In addition, CHAFE offers magnificent 100, 80, 40, and 30-mile routes, and a new 4-mile family fun ride. In addition, e-bike riders can participate in the 30 and 40-mile options. Register at CHAFE150.org.

Pre-Ride Dinner with Paralympics Gold Medalist Tristen Chernove will be held Friday, June 14, at Trinity at City Beach, 58 Bridge St. Chernove is a three-time world champion rider and Canadian para-cyclist of the year, and will speak about his Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, training regime, and what it takes to compete at a world-class level. A question and answer session will follow. Dinner includes an all-you-can-eat pasta buffet, dessert, and two tickets for beer or wine. Buy tickets (riders and non-riders alike welcome) on the Sandpoint Rotary website.
