Winter's here ... make the most of it!

A ski town with pizzazz

Music, arts make Sandpoint a real standout

Along with recent national kudos as the #3 ski town in the U.S. (RAVE Reviews: Best Ski Towns in America), Sandpoint's winters are filled with a diverse lineup of film and cultural events along with nearly-nightly downtown live music. Topping the January must-do calendar is the always popular Banff Film Festival screening at the historic Panida Theater, pictured above, Jan. 18-20. And throughout the downtown area, music fans will appreciate all the great musicians who come to town, or already live here, and perform at local venues 'round town! Check out the incredibly packed January calendar on the Visit Sandpoint Entertainment Calendar (which is updated daily).

MLK Weekend's a blast!

Take in three days (and spectacular nights!) of wintertime family fun during Schweitzer Mountain Resort's MLK festivities, Jan. 19-21. There will be live music in Taps, twilight skiing and the Northern Lights Spectacular fireworks show on Saturday night. Plus, the Woody Wagon from Deschutes Brewing will be parked all weekend long with special games and challenges as well as great beers! Book a room early as it always sells out!

Carnival is comin' at us

Get ready for a big winter party!

The countdown is officially on, and we're just a month away from the Sandpoint Winter Carnival, happening Feb. 15-24. This is our town's biggest party of the season and includes some don't-miss events including the Weird and Wonderful Winter Parade of Lights, President's Day Weekend events at Schweitzer including a night parade and fireworks, and of course the annual K-9 Keg Pull featuring local dogs. Check back for frequent updates on the official website: SandpointWinterCarnival.com.

Great time to get outside

Events foster love of wintertime sports

New Year's Resolutions aside, getting outdoors in winter is just plain fun - and something your family will remember for years to come. Two great events make it easy to get out and explore something new:
- January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. If you're daunted by the logistics of learning to ski or snowboard, there's no better way to be introduced to these sports than with Schweitzer's lesson, lift ticket and rental for $40 - happening during the month of January. This first-timer package helps your family get the gear and the instruction they need to have a lifetime love of skiing or snowboarding! Plus - if they keep going with the program, they have a chance to earn a GRAD CARD, good for FREE skiing and riding this spring!
Winter Trails Day is Jan. 26. Here's a chance for kids and adults to try snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, and to discover the great fitness benefits of these easy-to-learn sports. Over 100 events are planned across the U.S.; Schweitzer's contribution to Winter Trails includes free trail access for snowshoe trails and Nordic ski trails, plus there are multiple hosted snowshoe hikes throughout the day. Reserve a spot by calling the Activity Center at 208-255-3081.
