Lifting snow-lovers' spirits 

New chairlifts, terrain all set at Schweitzer 

There's a whole new level of excitement at Schweitzer Mountain Resort with this season's addition of two new chairlifts serving the North Bowl - the Cedar Park Express and the Colburn Triple, pictured above - plus seven new named runs added to the resort's mix. And a few recent snowstorms are only stoking skiers' and snowboarders' daydreams of wintertime fun to come, The resort is predicting an opening date of Friday, Nov. 29, so it won't be long now! In the meantime, check out the SKI3 lift ticket deal, going on 'til Nov. 10.

Merry shopping to all

It's a joy to browse and shop downtown retail shops, especially during the holidays. No doubt you'll discover unique items for gift giving, and fine restaurants, breweries, and winery offer a perfect opportunity to take a break. There are retail events aplenty starting this month, including Shop Small Saturday on Nov. 30, plus discover new stores on the Cedar Street Bridge. And the Christmas Fair on Nov. 16-17 at the fairgrounds offers unique and handmade treasures, plus visits with Santa and a gingerbread competition. The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce is once again organizing a Window Decorating Competition with downtown businesses Nov. 29 through Dec. 20. Maps will be available at the Tree Lighting on Nov. 29 and at participating businesses, along with voting ballots. Three awards will be given: People’s Choice, Social Media Favorite, and Grand Prize. Winners announced Dec. 24.

The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce is utilizing the exceptional talents of outdoor lifestyle photographer Woods Wheatcroft, pictured here, for their Instagram account for Visit Sandpoint.
"We are a fan of Woods’ photography and have been using his photos in the visitor guide for years,” said Kristin Carlson, communications specialist at the chamber. “He has a unique eye and his work is immediately identifiable.”
Wheatcroft posts photos of the Sandpoint area four or five times per week. “I focus on the connection pieces of our town - food, dining, events. Scenes and situations that bring our town together.”

So much to be thankful for ...

Spending the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in Sandpoint? If so, there is plenty going on that will make this special time of year extra special. Here's a rundown of happenings:
- Nov. 28: Turkey Trot Fun Run in Travers Park. Bring a food donation for the Bonner Community Food Bank.
- Nov. 29: Tree Lighting and Santa's Arrival at Jeff Jones Town Square. Plus live music at Idaho Pour Authority, Pend d'Oreille Winery, MickDuff's Beer Hall, 219 Lounge, and more
- Nov. 30: Shop Small Saturday with downtown retailer specials and more. Plus that evening, the annual Shook Twins 'Giving Thanks' Concert in the Panida, with performances by Honeysuckle and John Craigie.
