WestJet Expands Flights from YXU

Encore opens the Gateway to WestJet’s World - over 200 more destinations available
On March 15, 2016, WestJet Encore began twice-daily service between London International and Toronto Pearson airports, allowing the traveling public to connect with 100 more destinations through the WestJet network and their affiliates.

Encore flights leave early morning and again mid-afternoon, allowing for stress-free connections to WestJet destinations.

Their regional Bombardier Q400 NextGen turboprop aircraft comfortably seats 78 passengers with two seats on either side of the aisle.

To mark the event, a launch party was held for the guests on the inaugural flight. WestJet and London International - a combination that can't be beat when it comes to having fun.

‘Limited Addition’ flights to Vancouver
WestJet Airlines will begin non-stop flights between London and Vancouver June 29 and operate four times each week until September 5.
WestJet has indicated that their capacity plans for 2016 are fluid and they will continue to adjust schedules and stimulate demand to optimize results. What this means is that the success of 2016 summer service in London will determine if the route is viable for the future.

And the Planes Just Keep Getting Bigger
Thanks to our passengers, Air Canada aircraft will be getting bigger. 

The current Dash 8 100 and 300 aircraft flying from London, which seat 37 and 50 passengers respectively will be replaced with Q-400 aircraft which seat 74 passengers.

“London has been a strong performer for Air Canada with a good mix of both business and leisure traffic. We increased capacity marginally this winter and the London market responded well, so we are adding more capacity for the summer beginning in May, with as much as 32 per cent more capacity in August,” said Peter Fitzpatrick, Air Canada spokesperson.

Our Passenger Numbers Soar in 2015

We are happy to report the passengers using London International reached an all-time high of 481,943 in 2015.

This steady growth is thanks to the support of
  • the airlines, who continue to provide increased services;
  • our travel agents, who by helping their passengers book easier ways to travel use London International Airport more frequently;
  • our tenants, who by providing quality service assist the airlines.
So thank you for the unified effort to have passengers think of London International as their departure location.

Recognition for going 'Above & Beyond'

It was only last April when the 'Airport Comfort Enhancers' - or our Blue ACES as we call them - became a visible feature at London International. It seems we made the right call, as this sample of feedback from the public shows:
“I just want to let you know how impressed I was with my recent experience at your airport.
... I was due to fly out to Calgary at 7 a.m. On my way to the airport, I totaled my car. ... I ended up not making my flight. But the .. (Blue ACE) .. who met me while I was racing into the airport, amidst tears, was so kind. Then the WestJet staff were equally kind. I was able to fly out the next morning for no extra charge.

When I arrived back at your airport the next morning around 5:30 am …  they met me again and carried my bags for me to the check-in counter. The Westjet staff recognized me from the day before and they too were so considerate. ....THE KINDNESS OF THE STAFF THERE WAS POWERFUL!!’

‘Hello.  I came into London Airport on Sunday afternoon ... and we had help from a young man who helped three of us with wheelchairs off the airplane. That he went and got us one by one on his own, he was great help doing it ... and stated he worked (at) the airport and he wouldn’t take anything for helping us ... I believe he went over and above doing this and I would like to thank him ...’

'In the early morning hours ... my wife and I arrived at London after a long international flight. After ... clearing customs we returned to the parking lot to discover our vehicle .. (had) .. a dead battery. We returned to the terminal to contact a cab company and were met by your employee 'Shelly' whom I spoke too about our issue. Instead of simply directing us as to where to contact a cab she asked "I can help you".
She initially attended outside with us with a portable battery ... (It) did not have enough power to turn the motor so she returned to the terminal, retrieved a vehicle with cables and with the assistance of (a) ... gentleman from maintenance they were successful in getting our car started.
'Shelly' ... went above and beyond that early morning and her customer service skills were exceptional. Although we are from London she did not know that and I thought you should know what a great ambassador for the City of London and the London Airport you have working for you. 

Job well done Shelley and Wade!

As part of the improvements we have recently done throughout the terminal building, there are several backlit frames in the arrivals area. Each frame's visible area is a hefty 4 feet wide by 6 feet high.
