Happy (wet) February!

It's the rainy season in Singapore and sometimes referred to as 'winter'. The concrete is rapidly turning green but that's part of the charm of the tropics! I recently took a short break at the nearby Indonesian island of Bintan - a sunny paradise with a fascinating history of trade and piracy. I'm now back in the studio for the next few months ahead of my solo show at the Australian High Commission in October. More details to come (and some sneak peeks)!

Solo Show in Singapore

I'm looking forward to sharing my work with local audiences in October! Many thanks to the Australian High Commission in Singapore for hosting my show. I'll be creating some new prints and paintings...and going big!

Print Triennial in France

I'm excited to be selected as one of four artists representing Singapore at The World Triennial of Prints and Original Engravings in September. Looking forward to creating some new works especially for this show! Thanks to LUDO Gallery for their support.

Blog - My Lim Clan Connection

This time last year, I wrote this blog entry. Since then, my fifth grand uncle passed away and left his daughter and me to continue researching our family tree. I discovered that he kept many diaries that record the details of our extended family. This blog is dedicated to the memory of Lim Chong Cheng, otherwise known to me as Go Chek, who was my father's favourite uncle.

Seeing my great grandfather's name on a plaque in Singapore has been a magical experience. I recently visited a clan temple on Cantonment Road to find out more about my great grandfather Lim Nee Yam.  An operator of small lighter boats on the Singapore River, Nee Yam was born in Fujian, China in 1887. After trying to do some online research about him, I was approached a volunteer history buff. With his help, we discovered that Nee Yam had donated a considerable sum to help build the clan's ancestral temple in 1928. Read more.
