Holiday Season tips via the Achievement Program
Tips from Beyondblue

BeyondBlue has some great tips for Coping with Christmas for those who find the holiday season a stressful time. These include actions like planning ahead, setting expectations, and managing conflict.

Healthy holiday fare
Our supporting partners at Livelighter have some fantastic suggestions for a healthy festive season. Our favourite tip “Active gifts keep on giving right through the year. You could buy a sporting item (such as a football, basketball, skateboard), a voucher for a sports shop, a season pass to the local swimming pool, a few yoga classes or a bicycle.”

Keep calm wherever you are
If you’re looking for some quiet time these holidays, we recommend these great apps from Smiling Mind or Headspace to help you take a breather whether you’re on the ground or even, flying through the air.

Building Socially Inclusive Rural Communities: A complete resource

This evidence based resource provides information and guidance for action towards building socially inclusive rural communities.  It is designed to be used by organisations, projects, programs and partnerships that are working to address the health and wellbeing of rural communities.   The main purpose is to introduce discussion of rural social inclusion into the planning, implementation and evaluation processes of these entities.  If you would like more information or support to use this resource contact Eden Templeton, Health Promotion Project Officer on 5033 9981 or eden.templeton@smpcp.com.au

A little history
Rural social inclusion has been a focus of SMPCP for many years.  A significant step and what ultimately triggered the development of Building Socially Inclusive Rural Communities: A complete resource was the Socially Inclusive Rural Communities conference held in Kerang in 2011, coordinated by SMPCP, Campaspe PCP and Northern Mallee Community Partnership.  An outcome from the conference was the need for evidence, resources and information that was much more to specific and practical to rural communities.  Through a series of workshops, consultations, drafts, reviews and lots of work with Loddon Mallee Region PCP staff and our partners the resource came to fruition and ultimately launched in 2015.  Since then the resource has been used to guide and cross-check inclusiveness of many pieces of work in the Southern Mallee.
